OOC: Relationship Meme (Redux)
Stolen from fool_in_reverse. This will replace my last relationship meme. It's just the characters and hearts for now, but I'll finish it soon. If I forgot anybody, please post in the comments. And don't worry about the black and purple hearts - a lot of those will probably change after gamestart.

von Karma used to be Edgeworth's entire world. He gave him strength, he gave him guidance, and he gave him a path to follow when he had none. In short, von Karma was a source of stability when Edgeworth had none. While Edgeworth's outward affection faded, a very strong sense of respect, loyalty, and even gratitude remained.
That's all in the past, though. After he found out what von Karma did, disbelief and numbness gave way to pain, rage, confusion, and a deep sense of betrayal. While his feelings towards von Karma remain complex, he has yet to work through them to a satisfactory level.
Name: Souji Seta

While Edgeworth's feelings for the Setas and Dojimas usually fell somewhere between "loathing" and "apathy", for the longest time Souji was the sole, shining exception to this rule. Even though von Karma's tutelage took him away from the family, Miles still had regular contact with Souji and his family, and in a way Souji was like a little brother to him. However, feelings don't translate into action. Despite the affection Edgeworth held for him, the further he got into his career the more distant he became; the military took precedence over everything else, family included. He simply didn't have time for Souji anymore.
Recent events have made him rethink his priorities, though. While his new duties still come first, out of all the people he left behind with his little "goodbye" note, Souji will likely be one of the first people he gets back in touch with.
Comrades and Colleagues
Name: Flynn Scifo
This heart is more of an "average" of Edgeworth's conflicting feelings towards Flynn. In the past, Edgeworth thought that Flynn's sense of trust was naive at best and dangerous at worst ...especially when it involved a certain purple haired outlaw. However, even back then he respected Flynn's intelligence and competence, and he never truly believed those rumors about how Flynn rose through the ranks; after all, people had said similar things about him in the past, didn't they?
After his falling out with von Karma, though, Edgeworth's had to reevaluate his own views. While he's still not quite sure what to make of Flynn, he might be more willing to give him a chance now.
Name: Hijikata Toshirou

Despite the fact that Hijikata is absolutely insane, Edgeworth has a grudging respect for the mayo addict. He's skilled, he's competent (when he isn't threatening seppuku), and most importantly, he's always been there. For better or for worse, Hijikata's always served the Victoria II faithfully (as far as Edgeworth knew - he wouldn't have been pleased if he found out about the other Hijikata). In a life marked by distrust and instability, this was an odd sort of comfort.
Then came the falling out with von Karma. Hijikata's faith in Edgeworth took him off guard, and left him with an awkward and unfamiliar sense of gratitude. However, it wasn't enough to convince him to stay. That being said, he hold no ill will towards Hijikata ...although he remains ignorant about the mancrush.

First of all: Edgeworth thinks Katsura is absolutely insane, and wishes that he could be rid of the nuisance once and for all. However...there are moments where he remembers how Katsura served next to him, and is grateful for his aid. Perhaps he isn't so bad after all.
And one shouting match and report of broken furniture later, Edgeworth remembers that yes, he is that bad. His greatest wish is for Ivona to ship him and his duck to an obscure island never to be seen again.

Miles used to be somewhat fond of Adachi back when they were students. While the older student seemed a bit slow on the uptake (much to his annoyance), he was usually able to catch up, and he was willing to work hard - something that automatically made Adachi better than those incompetent, half-brained idiots who only got in because of daddy's money or connections. They became friends of sorts, although when the school year became more difficult, Miles started to spend less time with Adachi in order focus on his own studies. He didn't think much of it, though, until he found out that Adachi was going to drop out. Shocked, Miles confronted him, only to get into a stupid, thoughtless, and downright nasty argument. They both said things that couldn't be taken back, and by the time Miles stormed away, what was left of their friendship was completely obliterated. More wounded than he wanted to admit, Edgeworth convinced himself that Adachi was nothing more than a useless waste of time; he didn't need people like him dragging him down. Eventually Edgeworth forgot about him, and all that was left was a vague disdain and lack of respect.
After the falling out with von Karma, though, Edgeworth's been forced to reevaluate his old ambitions. While Edgeworth still doesn't respect Adachi, he has better things to do than waste time on a childish grudge. Besides, there's a small part of him that wonders if Adachi had the right idea about leaving the military when he did...
