Bummed...
Really, really bummed. I thought I was close on a sale for my novel, but it got rejected. I don't normally think this sort of thing is a big deal (writers are just used to it, and all) but this one felt really close. I'll send this publishing company more material in future, however. It was a positive rejection.
I'm not going to say my novel is a square peg looking for a round hole... but, yeah. It's not like I'm doing that special snowflake routine where my novel is just too unique for all the squares... I think a lot of people would enjoy it. I just don't even know where *I* would put in in marketing terms. But, I won't give up hope that somewhere, out there, there's a home for it.
On to the next market...
