Attention: All y'all who are either hostages, rescuers, or NPCs in the kidnap rescue post!
While the log is still on-going and probably will be for a while to come, I know many have other things they'd like to plot and play with, but it's hard to establish a character's exact mindset without knowing what went down. Welp! This post is meant to help

As I've already established, Simon will be feeling all of the self-loathing for a while. He'll eventually break and agree to help Orca, both because the others are still hurting and he won't abandon them and because he doesn't believe for one second that Orca would just let him go unharmed after going through all the trouble of kidnapping them. He'd expect there to either be a bullet or monsters waiting for him the second he tried to leave the cave.
But even though he won't actually touch Fugue, he will still hate himself for agreeing to go against his oath and his morals to deliberately harm someone else as a doctor- no matter if it IS the person keeping them trapped. Simon himself is still conflicted on the escape vs. stay issue, but ultimately believes that it should be a choice, and nobody should be forced to stay there. There's also the fact that he again disappeared and hurt Qi, and even though it's not his fault- like he even says himself, few things make him hate himself more than doing that.

1) From her perspective, the Clinic doesn't have adequate means to safely suspend someone in a coma for indefinite time (read: cryopreservation). Barbiturates are sooo last century.
2) Who can tell what the effects would be if Fugue gets coma'd? For all they know things could get worse.
3) Can the kidnappers even bring Fugue there without getting Treeshanked?
Had someone with better persuasion/manipulation skills presented the idea to her earlier, she would have seriously considered it. Right now she mostly resents being toyed with, roughed up and then kidnapped.
Now, onto the outcome: Would the rescuers come before or after the hostages actually need to start the procedures, if they ended up doing it (or having no choice but to do it)? Would the hostages be able to see the fighting?
Next issue: Lyle. The sight/touch memory which I still need to finish writing down lalala she got right before the incident stops right before what she believed would be a fatal blow to Lyle's Gundam delivered by her via involuntary piloting. Once the kidnap/rescue drama is resolved, this will return to be the primary thing that haunts her mind. A lot of people in ES claim to be dead in their worlds and now she wonders if he was too--killed by her. To other people this, on top of being injured and tired, will just manifest as Stellaris being distracted a lot, more silent, less friendly. Kris, I don't know if you want Lyle to find her before our planned log in temp clinic, but if they see each other before that, we probably need to work out handwaved reactions.

Yeah, that's pretty much how Simon feels. XD And part of why he's resisting helping Orca- because he's just like "would it really have taken THAT much more time and effort to approach the medics about it normally instead of making this huge show of kidnapping us?"

I think the rescuers would come before anything could actually be done to Fugue procedure-wise because Fugue will never actually get to his cell. Locke's intervention will keep Orca from being able to deliver Fugue and while the two are fighting Fugue will wake up. Aaaand then all three will die, probably on some elevated ledge/tunnel that leads into the hostage cavern so that people can see those deaths. (I'm not sure when these deaths will happen in relation to all the fighting. It's pretty flexible and can happen after the rescuers get there or even before, with the corpses stuck up there until the cavalry appears.)
Granted, I think it would be reasonable to assume Charger and Steve would have orders to open the door between the hostages and Fugue's cell before Orca got there so the medics can start making preparations.
As for the fighting, most of that will probably happen on the way and not seen by the hostages (I think? Feel free to weigh in, anyone who's in the log, since this one's up in the air) but since Charger and Steve are acting as guards, it makes sense that the hostages would see them be detained.
Re: Lyle, Stellaris, and Reactions
Lyle will be among the rescuers, so he would probably want to seek Stella out the moment fighting is done and the hostages are free. BUT if it's easier to have them speak to each other first at the clinic I can injure him enough to put him out of commission until then.
I...think that's everything I've got. If my rambling is confusing, just let me know and I'll clarify or rework. ^^;

I'll probably find someway to knock him unconscious once they're in the big cavern.
