Grandpa.
She remembered his face, that obnoxious har har har whenever he cracked one of his awful jokes, the way the corners of his mustache lifted when he smiled, the chips of flint in his eyes when things were grim. She waved as he left on the meteor and screamed when he left her forever... no. not forever.
Drakenvale... no one has ever returned.
Guess we'll be the first who do!
Syldra's spirit says she wants to help you, Faris...
Say, where's that spry old fellow?
So many faces and places... a glowing red trench beneath the sea, a castle suspended in bottomless sky, a field of stars at the end of the world... and then light. Light and the most beautiful thing in the world, the sight of towns and people being put right back where they belonged...
Flowers. See you, Grandpa.
What are you talking about? You're not alone...
Krile sat up and looked around. It looked like everyone was waking up, too. She smiled and sniffed loudly, wiping her eyes on her sleeve. "So that's how it ended," she said quietly. "It didn't." Whether she meant her world or Edensphere, it was hard to say.
