A low porch overlooking a worn patch of grass used for outdoor training. This was all familiar, this was home The bamboo grove just beyond was tall, a living wall - there was no outside, no city, only here. Souji walked along to the porch, the sound of bare feet quiet on the wood. In his hands was a tray with to cups of tea - the same worn, mismatched cups that sat on his shelf in Edensphere, though he didn't notice. He carefully slid one of the screen doors open, resisting the urge to roll his eyes a little. Of course Hijikata-san was still keeping it nearly shut, even in the heat of summer. One of these days mushrooms really were going to start growing on him.
He didn't bother shutting the door after him, and didn't do much else to announce his presence other than call out, "Hijikata-san~ It's nice out, your should leave your shoji open." There was a hmph from the darkhaired man seated at the desk, but he straightened up a little, putting down whatever papers he was working on. "I brought tea," Souji added brightly, putting the tray down on the tatami floor not too far inside the door. Hijikata rose, and came over to sit loose-legged by Souji, picking up one of the cups. Souji slid closer, until he could lean up against Hijikata, and then picked up his cup.
"You're as bad as a cat, you know," the taller man grumbled. Souji shook with silent laughter, doing his best not to spill tea on either of them. "At least I don't shed," he countered.
There was another hmph at that, and Souji spared a glance out through the open door. It was quiet - peaceful, really. He pulled closer, nearly in Hijikata's lap now, and then settled down. Perfect.
