Hollow Masks

Summary: Jeep heads home after work and runs in to something hungry.

It was getting rather late as Jeep finished his shift at the clinic and got ready to go home. It had been a good day with some extra time to look through the medical books and learn some new tricks about medical procedures. His control over the healing light in his body had also grown stronger, and he now managed to let the power flow through him at his own pace, using tiny amounts to heal small wounds and increasing it when healing larger injuries. All in all, Jeep was feeling good.
That meant, of course, that he would have to run into trouble on his way home.
While getting close to the bridge leading off Wellspring Island, the brunette felt something heavy stir behind him. Turning, his eyes widened and he quickly dodged away from a massive swipe of claws. There was a white beast attacking him, shaped like something between a bat and a man. A strange mask covered the creature's face, and as it opened its mouth to snap his teeth after him, Jeep could see a glimpse of a second row behind it.
"What are you do-"
He had to dodge again, this time barely managing to avoid the edge of the floating island.
