There was a parachute on her back, folded up like a backpack. It had a thick strap around her neck and a slightly smaller strap around her tail, so it stayed in place, but she was pretty sure that if she ever did start falling and pulled the cord, it wouldn't save her.

But then, Above didn't intend to fall.

She left her nest and flew in a lazy circle about the great trunk of the Tree, looking at the islands and idly considering lunch. She wasn't hungry yet, but that would change.

Such a nice day. She closed her eyes for a moment and just glided. Above loved flying. There was nothing else she knew that felt so right.

The day was really too beautiful not to fly. Havoc didn't feel like giving her a ride today--shedding--but that was no reason for Krile to stay on the ground. She just put on a pair of slacks and hopped on her broomstick, diving through the housing sections to the open air above the islands.

There was nowhere in particular she had to go today. Worry over Paladin nagged at her mind, but she couldn't seem to offer any help just now, so she would hope and in the meantime, fly.

She grinned when she saw that someone else was taking advantage of the beautiful day. "Well hello!" she called to the pterosaur. "Got a package to deliver?"

Distances always seemed different in the air - like anything that flew with you was much closer than it really was. Of course, flying too close was dangerous...

Still, Above adjusted her pteroids, through them the leading edges of her wings, and banked somewhat closer so no one would have to shout. < I'd rather lose it somewhere, but the union would be mad at me, > she called back.

It was easier to get a look at the pack with Above flying closer, but to Krile it still looked like an ordinary backpack. She'd never seen a parachute before.

"...The union?" There was a rather puzzled look on Krile's face; she could tell it was a joke but didn't know the meaning. Did Above mean that this had to do with the ridiculous warning signs and padding that people had run into?

Someone was trying to take advantage of the lovely spring day. But unfortunately for Apple he was having a hard time of it.

The small boy was currently dressed from head to toe in all manners of safety gear. He had knee pads, elbow pads, wrist protectors, and worst of all, a heavy helmet weighing him down significantly on his head. His usual flying goggles had been replaced with thick unbreakable sports goggles and he found it hard to talk around the mouth guard that kept reappearing in his mouth at inopportune times.

Still, he was not going to let this stop him from flying. Even if was going to be a struggle, he was going to go about his day as usual. Even if he looked uncharacteristically cross as he did so.

If he was flying in uneven dips? Completely understandable.

Above saw a familiar set of small black wings - well, relatively small, anyway; she had a twenty-two foot wingspan - down below and adjusted her trajectory, going into a shallow dive and then having to bleed off her speed, braking to fall a little ways behind. Finally she flew slowly, a careful fifteen feet above him, looking down out of one eye.

< Hi, Apple! You look like you're trying out for football, > she observed. < Think you'll make the team? >

Apple looked up as a familiar shadow fell across him.

"H-hi Above!" He was panting as he yelled up to her. "W-what's football?" He was confused--was it another thing that the Sphere was doing this month? He wobbled in the air as a particularly gusty current bumped him up.

She adjusted her wing membranes to catch the gust and rose. < Contact sport, > she told him. < You need padding for it. ...Never mind. Having trouble? >
