------
It was a desert that Void and Ice were unwillingly sent to. Somehow, Void knew exactly how to make do in this place, even if they had not a clue how the Elevator had selected this place to send them. Void at first wondered if it was the Wilderness, but theorized that if that were true, then being two people they should be able to find the exit fairly soon.
They'd found a city before nightfall and curled up in one of the buildings together. They'd explored what looked like a giant casino together. They ate together, slept together, and survived together. Unfortunately, they couldn't find the exit, and the longer Void stayed in that place, the more concerned she became about why it was all familiar. She worried that there must surely be one inhabitant at least to be wary of - not the environment itself. While at the casino, Void found one particularly fetching hat that she chose to keep hold of, if only for practical reasons due to its wide brim.
The two sisters explored every day, but returned to their city base every night. It was always for naught, though, as there proved to be nothing within half a day's walk from the city. One night, while Ice was sleeping, Void explored the casino more fully. It was like she couldn't stop examining the place; she was too transfixed by every single minute detail of it.
The next day, as they were returning to the city, they spied the elevator at long last. Running through sand was no easy feat, but then without warning a sandstorm kicked up. Void reached out with a long tendril of interlocked arms for Ice, and started pulling her towards the elevator. With a last great surge of effort - and one hand firmly on her hat - Void reached the elevator, then proceeded to yank Ice in with her. The elevator doors closed.
Void slumped to the bottom of the elevator with a gasp, as did Ice. Abruptly, Void stopped hearing Ice's harsh breaths. Her head jerked up - and Ice was gone. Void stared, too much in shock to yet be upset or angry. What just... happened? She was mainly confused; that didn't happen normally in nature... did it?
The elevator doors opened again, but Void didn't leave. She had to try to figure it out - why Ice had suddenly disappeared like that.
