That sound... was almost sad. Was it a defense mechanism of some form? Surely someone that made something as fascinating as this wouldn't want it to be easily stolen, or tampered with.

"What are you?" She reached out and traced some of the grooves lightly, with her fingertips. There was something dim and distantly familiar about tech being this advanced, but every time she tried to pin down the thought it escaped her. It almost seemed to be looking around at the place. Was it searching for an escape? Surely a program could have been written that would encourage such behavior. That would imply at least a minimal ability to analyse, though, perhaps a trace of intelligence. More likely it was simply assessing its surroundings and adapting its program to fit... but she wasn't sure.

Almost reverently Mona tried to open one of the panels on the machine. The last thing she wanted to do was damage something she'd stolen. That would be careless and a waste. It gave easily. Instead of the expected computer chips, though, it only seemed to hold some form of attachment. She couldn't help but think of a vacuum, and felt a passing moment of frustration. If this turned out to be a glorified cleaning device, she would never forgive herself for stealing something so... basic.
