Clow couldn't sleep. And he wasn't the only one, but complaining on the journals felt like a waste of time. He was too irritated to interact with most people, anyway. He was beginning to think that the primary function of the journal was complaining about whatever ridiculous thing the Tree tended to inflict on people. Complaining didn't fix anything, though. And he was tired of lying in bed and staring at the ceiling. It'd be better to go out exploring again. There were still some places he hadn't seen, and sleeping past dawn was nearly impossible during normal circumstances, anyway.

So here he was, wandering down around the hot springs. He was ignoring the rain that dripped down his neck; it was unimportant. Pondering recent events, the lack of sleep and the encouragement to revolution, among others, he almost didn't notice the contrast of Above's body against the greenery. Not that he knew it was she. He hadn't seen too many animals here besides the irritating sheep, which had at least taken a hike for the moment.

He couldn't quite tell what she was from a distance, so quietly he stepped closer, giving in to curiosity. Of course, closer, he still really wasn't quite sure. Some kind of large reptile? Very large.

"Wow," he said quietly.

There was someone here. She shifted her head a little, but didn't lift it. Above was sleepy. Not tired, really, but... comfortable.

Maybe if she didn't acknowledge whoever this was, they'd let her alone.

Oh, the creature had moved! So she was something alive.

Feeling a bit silly, he said, "Hello?"

He'd never seen something like this before. Maybe she was sentient. Maybe not. But he figured it might be important to know before he got too close.

Rats.

She picked her head up, neck drawing in an arc before her head actually lifted. Holding it straight up put her eye level at around six feet up. Which, she saw, hadn't really been necessary here; this boy was smaller than that. But it right now it seemed like too much effort to angle down.

< Yes, did you want something? > she asked.

He jumped back in surprise when she moved, swift reflexes helpful here. And then he blushed furiously, embarrassed to have interrupted her nap, or whatever it was she was doing here.

"Uh, sorry. I didn't... I've never... Are you a dinosaur?"

Good first impressions were definitely not one of Clow's marketable skills.

Above couldn't sigh properly. Her lungs weren't really built for it. But she could and did make what 'sounded' like a sigh.

< Pterosaur. Different thing, same parts of prehistory. > She felt a flicker of embarrassment which she was pretty sure was not hers and, irritated, clicked her beak. < And yes, I talk. In other news, water is wet and the Sphere is insane. >

"Pterosaur," he repeated with interest, but then she seemed annoyed. And normally that would make him annoyed back, but really, he was the interloper here. "Sorry to bother you. Although," because honesty was important, even though sometimes it was unasked for, "if you didn't want to be bothered, you should probably find a more private place to sleep."

With exaggerated patience, Above told him, < It's kind of cold. I wanted some fresh air. I can't fit through most doors. >

She adjusted her wings, pulling them a little closer to her body. < And it's nice here. >

"So you stay outside?" he asked, before realizing it was rude. So he hurried on. "It is really nice here. I like to walk through here. It's warm."
