OH SHIT IT'S OLD SQUIDBAIT HIMSELF favorthebold March 21 2011, 22:06:10 UTC
Somehow, after the dream he'd had, waking up to blurry, warm nothingness was no surprise. To be reborn. This is what it feels like.

Fierce fiery elation still set his heart racing and dimmed his senses. As he floated in the first few seconds of what was naturally a new life, it was all he felt, and felt defining him. The echoes of his dream: I won, I won, I won. Not a dream - how could that have been only a dream? No, he thought as his lungs began to scream for air. That had not been a dream and this was not natural. Something was wrong. Something was very very wrong ( ... )

He woke with the bell still ringing in his ears, confused and a little irritated. He couldn't quite breathe properly so his first reaction was to swim, to surface, but that didn't quite work either; there was something in the way. He pushed at it, fingers catching. He wasn't going to be stuck and he wasn't not going to panic. He was really good at not panicking ( ... )

WHO ARE YOU CALLING OLD?! >o fugue_angel March 22 2011, 18:09:09 UTC
When the first cocoon broke open with violence, Fugue flinched and immediately ducked behind the Greeter table where dozens of newborn bundles sat waiting to be used. The newborn moved like a predator, sprung from a trap. He had a well toned body so Fugue instantly hated him.

The second cocoon produced a slippery child--a boy. What a mismatched pair of twins. He hoped that the first born wouldn't take out his frustrations on the child--that would look bad for Fugue. Maybe he should call a Guard?

He peeked out cautiously from the table and cleared his throat. "Hello there. I know you have questions, but let me make it clear. I have no intention of hurting you."

Fugue peaked out at the child from behind his sunglasses. "This is Edensphere. You were just born. Welcome."

Fully awake and alert now, and crouching in preparation for movement, the nameless man - that grated as soon as he realized it, why should he have no name? He should have more than one, even - spared the boy besides him only a fleeting glance, then turned a more incredulous glare at the old man. An old man hiding behind a desk. The first thought came quick and simple: You could not hurt me if you tried.

It was a very clarifying sort of thought. He relaxed - not yet abandoning his ready pose, but no longer immediately expecting violence. With that instinct stilled for the moment, he began to truly process his surroundings. He glanced curiously at the boy again and at the other cocoons, then shook his head, one hand sweeping the wet hair away from his eyes.

"Born?" His voice was sharp with doubt. "You'll have to do better than that, domè."

The boy didn't recognize that word - domè? But he agreed with the man's sentiments. Babies were born. They were too old. He scowled a little and focused a little on the man crouching behind the desk. The man had answered the question in an entirely useless way. Still, he was the only person here who seemed to know anything.

The boy thought it might be a good idea to find his feet, and he did, careful not to slip in the mess on the floor. He half-wondered if he should clean it up, but didn't ask.

"How do we go back?" he said instead. He wasn't sure where exactly that would entail -- or any details about it, really, or who was there, or what he was supposed to be doing. But he felt displaced. He didn't know where Edensphere was, so he obviously didn't belong here. The dream, as solid as it was in his recent memory, didn't have any real information in it that he could glean beyond that name, Clow. It seemed important, so he clung to it for the time being.
