Bazaar, afternoon of the 18th coughcoughshank February 21 2011, 19:32:58 UTC
Daitou was rather glad to be back to normal size - even if it had come with some odd clothing. The leather greaves and wide belt were comfortable, though, even if it did make him look more like the fighter he was than usual. But he didn't have to stand on a box to reach the counter in the shop.

Not that he was in the shop right now. No, he was out looking at the other shops, and contemplating the possibility of lunch. And maybe something nice for Tian...

Wandering, very glad to be back to his own body, Gai went through the bazaar not looking for anything in particular. Maybe he would pick up dog treats. Or maybe they could do with a few more glasses. It couldn't hurt.

As he walked, Gai saw Daitou. He thought nothing of it, though, until he felt the inorexable draw of the mistletoe redirecting his steps. Well. It looked like he would have some explaining to do; Daitou hadn't been around the first time this happened.

"Hello, Daitou!"

Daitou looked up from the stall he'd been examining at the sound of his name, and blinked. Seeing who it was, he gave the older man an enthusiastic wave. "Hello, Gai-san!"

Oh good, he'd found Daitou in a good mood. Maybe the young man wouldn't be bothered by the need for a hug. Doubtlessly any moment now he'd notice that he was being drawn to Gai too, and then there was a chance of annoyance. At least he normally seemed nice.

"I hope today has been... good? Because I think that it is about to get strange, I am sorry. Do you have mistletoe where you come from? Or any traditions with it?"

He was now a few steps closer. While Gai couldn't fight the force pulling them together, rushing it seemed a bad idea. He would take what time he could.

Daitou didn't notice, being as it was that he was headed towards the other man anyway. He'd meant to have another chance to talk with him, after their rather cryptic conversation about the rainbow writers in the candy shop, but things had gotten...chaotic, to say the least.

He blinked slightly at the question. "Eh? Mistletoe? What's that?"

Things always seemed to get chaotic. Gai didn't blame Daitou for getting distracted. And it looked like Gai had some explaining to do. "There is a plant that means things to some people. I do not remember what it means, or to whom. But it is mistletoe, and here when it shows up..."

He shrugged. "Try to take a few steps away from me."

Daitou tried - and found that his legs would not move in that direction. A step forward was fine, but back, it seemed, was out of the question. "...That's odd."

"It is called mistletoe." Gai pointed up at the plant hanging in mid-air. "When it grows, two or more people are stuck until they mutually hug each other. Just one hugging does not do anything. This means that we will have to hug." He shrugged. "Hugs can be fun! But I do not want you to feel uncomfortable."

Daitou stared at the hovering plant he had missed before. This was all so strange - but then again, he'd been eight the week before. Plants that forced people to hug seemed almost normal in comparison to that.

He shot Gai a grin. "Well, I guess a hug isn't too bad," he replied brightly.

"Isn't too bad? That is almost the spirit, but not quite!" He smiled warmly; he was teasing. Though it was habit to encourage a more positive response. One day it would pan out! He would encourage someone!

"A hug is a very good thing! Shall we hug, Daitou?"

Daitou couldn't help but laugh - Gai was so enthusiastic. A little odd, certainly, but not in a bad way. "You're right - hugs are good things." As he got closer, he opened his arms wide to wrap around Gai.

"I am glad you think so!" Cheerfully Gai returned the hug. This was the easiest one so far, and Gai was glad to have a hug he got to enjoy instead of feeling like a bully while he attempted to get free. The hug wasn't too long so as to be uncomfortable, just enough to get free. "So your day has been going well aside from winding up stuck?"

Daitou should have expected an enthusiastic hug from an enthusiastic man, but he had not quite prepared himself for having some of the wind knocked out of him by that squeeze. He coughed a few times into his sleeve as he inhaled again - not bad ones, thankfully - and then, once he'd caught his breath, gave Gai a smile. "Well enough - I was trying to decide what to have for lunch."

He wasn't brutal with hugs, but he did like to show that he put his heart into them. When Daitou started to cough Gai's hands came up as if he would pat the boy on the back and trie to help, but Daitou seemed all right.

"Lunch is a very good thing to decide upon. I enjoy the bugers from a place just down that way." Gai pointed. "A friend of mine taught me that they were good; I do not believe I'd had any before."

"Hmmm, I'm not sure I've been there before..." Daitou said thoughtfully. "I usually just go to one of places that serves Japanese food...."

He gave Gai a bright, quick smile. "Would you care to join me for burgers, Gai-san? Or were you on your way somewhere?"

"I stuck to the Japanese food too, until I met Medium." She was gone now, but she'd had an impact on him. "I am not busy. I would be glad to join you for burgers! Or one each. They are larger. Most only just have one. I think." Though he'd seen Medium eat more in a sitting, he was fairly certainl

Cheerfully he lead the way to the burger stand, picking his favorite out with ease.
