And who better to mingle with than a very good friend? He hoped she wasn't busy today, though he had a little bit of a nervous sinking feeling when he knocked on the door.
With a crinkle of cellophane, he hid his arms and a vibrant burst of color behind his back. He hoped she didn't have an allergy or anything... wait, crap, what if she did!?

The knock on the door was a welcome distraction. She rose from her seat at the kitchen table, hastily straightened her ponytail and her skirt, and hurried to the door.
"I'm coming--oh, hello!" The sight of her friend pulled a smile to her tired face, her eyes sparking with gladness. "Come on in, I'm sorry it's a little messy, yesterday was..."

"Please, Kagerou, don't worry about it! You should see what's left of my place!" He then said with a shake of his head and a laugh. He was quite used to sleeping outside at this point, and just in time for the weather to start warming up for spring! After two instances of his home being blown to bits, he was tired of that little shack, anyway.
"I won't pry, either, but I hope things are looking up for you! ...And I brought you some... uh," He brought a bouquet of spring flowers from behind his back, looking them over for a moment while looking absolutely perplexed ( ... )

With that, she bustled towards the kitchen, still speaking over her shoulder. "Lunch sounds really wonderful, actually. I had a bit of a scare yesterday. You know how some people have had trouble with, um, people who are very much like them, but kind of nasty? One of my friends ran into his, and... it got sort of awful.
"I'm sorry, I'm prattling your ear off. Lunch, yes, right now, yes. That sounds good."

She took care that the door shut properly behind them, and breathed in a great gulp of the crisp midday air. "My friend will be fine. He was hurt pretty badly, so I went to see him in the morning, but he's a tough sort. That's a good quality in the Sphere in general, I think."
Thoughts of Toushi still pricked her with small needles of worry, but the worst was behind them, and she had a lovely lunch in good company right ahead. "So, what have you been up to lately? I haven't seen you for a while."

That thought was immediately gone with her question, and he brightened up a little more than usual. "Where do I start!? I nabbed the culprit behind the farmer's market till theft, the crops are doing well despite all the snow and frost, and this second job I've picked up is super fun! Feathers is getting really big- an expert told me I should get him fitted for a saddle around May or June and I'm super excited for that- and I'm getting used to sleeping under the stars. It'll be really nice to see all the buds and flowers growing again when Spring hits..."
He sucked in a deep breath, having expended his entire lung capacity prattling on. Clearing his throat, he ruffled his hair a bit with a hand.
"...But it has been a while! I really missed talking to you." At the elevator, he pressed the call button and tucked his hands into his pockets.

"Oh, so you did the detective work this time! I might have to step up on that if I mean to keep my title. Feathers is--in fine feather, then, too? We should go to see him some day. And I'd like to come say hello to the chickens, too."
Kagerou ducked into the elevator ahead of him and snappily pressed the button to take them down to the City Without Walls.

She sighed. "Thank you for coming, though. I think I'm going a little, well, off my head here. But I will be fine! I just need to sort out the bar, and things will fall back on their tracks." This was not the time for melancholia. She shook her head, and then the doors of the elevator went swooshing open and they stepped out onto Access Point.
"All right, you lead the way. I'll be right behind you, Sir Night!"

Kagerou leaned in over the menu, attempted to read it upside down, and then finally looked up the right dessert in her own copy.
"I am not sure, my good partner." She looked up at Night, then lowered her voice to a whisper. "Surely there's only one course of action we can take, in our sincere interest of acquiring further learning! First, we'll take a fortifying lunch, and then, on our way out, we'll steal into the kitchen and spy out this secret."
Well, it did sound silly, but it also sounded like the kind of thing she had not done in ages and was secretly missing quite a bit.

Oh yes. He'd have something new... perhaps a red curry with basil. He'd tried green before, but wasn't much of a fan. Alas, his favorite color didn't lead him to victory that day. The color green had him thinking of frogs, and his gaze went out to the window.
"I'm sorry... again, for the whole frog incident." Short and to the point. It appeared he still felt bad about the whole thing, especially now that he was a little more educated on human customs.

She paused in her oncoming barrage of cheerful questions when he apologised. Oh, that, last year. She did still remember, of course, but he sounded very contrite over it.
"Um, oh, no!" She waved her hand as if to try and dismiss the matter. "You know, you were in a pinch, so of course I was going to help any way I could! It isn't a big deal. Though--um, why would you bring it up? Not that I mind, but I actually had to think for a minute to..."
That sounded a little insensitive, too, as if she'd simply brushed it aside. Laying her hands on the edge of the table, she simply smiled at him, as if to leave him room to continue.
