The change in the Wilderness from the peaceful forest with its little camp and the lake was quick. One moment, it was all there, and then it seemed like the world was just washed away, replaced by a new world that looked dipped in gloom and sepia colors. Something didn't feel right at all, and Tian kept a watchful eye around him at all times. While this place had more room for the great dragon to move in, he felt more trapped than before.
A few days passed without any trouble, something that was rather surprising. With the tension in the air and the strange shadows that seemed to creep all over the area, Tian had expected to get into trouble much earlier. But perhaps they were only planning their ambush on a giant beast more carefully. He didn't know, and probably didn't want to.
The attack finally came out of nowhere, the sky turning dark with something that seemed like black squares, creating a strange, red-black vortex; and a reddish glowing force field was suddenly surrounding the dragon. It restrained his movement, and sent shocks of pain through his body when touched. Roaring in rage, the dragon watched as the strange opening in the sky rained down three black, disgusting beasts right in front of him.
As the beasts started to advance on him, the huge dragon simply stepped on one of them, crushing it into the ground. Looking to see if the other two would hesitate because of this, he growled when he realized that the beasts didn't seem to care at all. They were either unintelligent or insane. The second beast fell victim to a slice of his claws, but as soon as it died, the last creature let out a terrifying howl that stunned Tian for a moment - and somehow revived the two beasts he had just killed.
Narrowing his eyes, the great dragon growled again. He was not about to let these creatures trap him like this - and while he could just take off into the air, this was a matter of pride. (...and he was not certain he had enough room to take flight.) Crushing the beast that had howled this time, he waited to see if the others would howl, too - but nothing happened. It seemed like they either could not or they would wait with doing so until there was only one left.
The creatures were somewhat strange in their attacks, slow at first but then one was charging towards him and slamming at his sides, raking. His scales took the worst of the attack, and Tian swatted away the offending monster. Again, he was met with that howl that stunned him for a moment, and the three beasts were back up again, seemingly unharmed. Snarling, Tian tried to think up a strategy, but he did not have a lot of time and the creatures seemed hellbent of attacking him, even if their hits didn't do much damage at all to the dragon.
Finally, Tian slammed his from legs into the ground, cracking the earth around them as he reared up. Using his massive body, the dragon fell down upon the beasts, crushing all of them at the same time. No howl came to paralyze him this time, and no more beasts seemed to come to attack him. Instead, their bodies turned into pixel-like squares that were sucked up into the vortex in the sky, which turned from that intimidating red to a more mellow cyan. The strange barrier was gone as well, and Tian shook his head in annoyance. What a strange fight.
About to check on his scales to see if the beasts had done any damage, the dragon then froze in horror as he realized that he, too, was transforming into little square pieces. Dragging his claws into the ground, the dragon roared and tried to break free, but the vortex did not seem to be possible to attack, and Tian shattered into shiny white squares and disappeared into it.
The next moment...
...he was dropped down in what looked like an elevator. Panting slightly, the dragon tried to stand up, only to notice that his body had changed. His torso was shorter, his arms and legs longer, and he seemed to have... well... shrunk. Touching his face with still-clawed fingers, he noticed that he seemed mostly human. But the scales were still there, and so were the claws. His ears were still pointed and it felt like he had horns. There was a tail behind him, and a he still had his mane growing along his spine and towards the tip of his tail.
But somehow... he was now changed. And the strangest part was that he recognized it. It was not something done by the vortex or the creatures. He knew this form just as well as he knew the gigantic dragon he had been. Remembering Hawk's words about a smaller form, Tian looked at his hands thoughtfully. It was a mystery how he had ended up this way, but it did not frighten him. He instinctively knew that he could turn back - but it was not exactly wise to do so in this enclosed space.
He was in the elevator. Roused from his thoughts, Tian realized that he was free from his confinement in the Wilderness, and quickly looked around for anything to start the elevator with. Finding buttons, he pressed 'up', hoping that would take him somewhere more civilized.
...or at least a place that had clothes.
