Walking across the bridge to Wellspring Island, sturdy as it was, when legs were shaking under him was the least enjoyable experience Huo had had in all his admittedly brief time in the Sphere, and he suspected it would be a while before anything rivaled with it. Once he made it across and to the Clinic door, he stood for a long moment near the entrance to the building, leaning against the stark wall, violently dizzy.
The lack of food and sleep, the rising fever, then the conversation with Hawk... he was no longer sure what was pressing on him worse. The bridge was a definite final straw. Now he was going to lay down in the quiet for a while. Yes. Definitely. He held tight onto that conviction as he stepped inside.
It would only be much later that he would realize how very naive that had been.
