Cloud had heard Locket-san's report on the latest Wilderness, of course, but he had still been a little surprised by its appearance. The sky was actually golden... but she also hadn't been wrong when she said the atmosphere here was bad for people ( ... )

She was quick and agile and thankfully her body seemed to know how to use that, but she was finally starting to tire. She landed very clumsily on a high branch and panted, beak open, ignoring the chiming for now - it was low-pitched, not in diving range yet. The clear syrupy ichor the bat things had for blood daubed her beak and claws ( ... )

Cloud heard the odd chirping cry, and adjusted his approach. He had no idea what he was running into, only that he was almost there.

He rounded a huge boulder, and skidded to a halt. His eye followed those... things. Were they bats? They looked about the right shape, but that was all. They were too big... and something was wrong with their... heads. Oh, that was it. They didn't seem to have any.

They were also chasing something, attacking it; another flying creature that was tiny compared to the things. Was that someone from Edensphere? Either way... he moved again, dashing at the creatures with a snarl and baring his fangs. Maybe if he just put on a display of force they would back off...

[ooc: O rly? I can see my link... but yes, that's the one.]

Mindelan saw something very large and white surging into view, and dived, swerving hard to be away from its mouth - and then shot directly at it from about grasstop level, going underneath its body and out the other side. She landed clumsily on the side of what she mentally labeled as a rocky cliff, fluttering a little until she could grab it with her claws, and twisted her head around to watch out of one eye.

The bat things had, on the white thing's appearance, all started chiming at once, the rubbery shapes they had instead of faces flexing. They were laboriously backwinging, backing up. Not turning around, though.

Mindelan's first impulse was good, I can escape, and then she took another look at the white creature. Long and four-legged and, when she remembered to account for perspective, nothing like as huge as she'd thought, for a moment it seemed like a very large pine marten. They tended to have fur, though ( ... )
