Stoneface had grimly led the small squad of the Watch's best fighters to the Butcher's and left the rest of the Watch in Sky's capable hands. The thought crossed his mind that if they all perished here, then Sky would--

No, he would rule that one out. It would be an impossibility. They would win. He didn't speak, but nodded at both Handmaiden and Youth to take the lead as they drew ever closer. He had insisted upon coming along despite his men's wishes that he did not (and how humiliating that was; did they think of him as little more than an old man standing in as a figurehead?) not for glory or to see Apostle on the ground, but because he felt that he had a responsibility to be there. This was the Watch's first big case that wouldn't get mucked up by the law that he had created, and therefore he had to be there. It was as simple as that.

Of course, he wasn't a fool--that was why he let the stronger, younger fighters take the lead while he lurked in the back, readying his crossbow. He also wasn't daft enough to think that the crossbow could do a thing against somebody like Apostle, but having a crossbow bolt sticking straight out of your arse could at least be a decent distraction.

"Restrain him instead of killing him if you can," he whispered. "You know the drill."

It helped if he thought of Apostle as a particularly foul sort of zombie--sure, he could sew his limbs back on really, really fast, but he'd have to get at his limbs first. Stoneface was entertaining ideas of just lopping off one of his arms and locking it in the freezer. But, of course, that would be for one of the others to do.

Taking a deep breath and readying his weaponry, he crouched and waited for somebody else to make the first move.
