Summary: Kagerou has a day off and a bad case of restless feet. Surely a fairy counts as the requisite Wilderness companion? However, she ends up finding more than she was expecting, and like minds meet.

Kagerou halted, sighed, and considered the facts. She, Heroic Exploring Detective Kagerou, one, with her trusty fairy sidekicks, Shun'ou, Ayame and Grumpy, three, was hopelessly lost in this new Wilderness.
She'd set out at daybreak, to clear her head and get out of the house, and reasoned that since she had one to three little companions around, the Wilderness might allow her to pass. No such luck--she'd wandered the admittedly fascinating, ruined cityscape for hours. This Wilderness was an impressive mesh of buildings that looked nothing so much as crashed together, forcing her to pick creative paths through broken structures. Here and there there were signs of people and life, going on in small, stubborn pockets amid the wreckage.
In a bit, she would write a distress call in the journal. For now, she had her snacks and her bottle of hibiscus juice (interesting. She wanted to ask if it came in sunflower) and her walking stick, pilfered from the Dojo (invaluable, right now. She would return it later). Her shoes were sensible, her hair in a braid and her jacket water-resistant.
Kagerou turned a corner and froze in her tracks. She blinked at the sunlight, then realised it was no brighter than a step back. There was a familiar spiritual pressure clouding the vicinity, and it made a peculiar chill twist down her spine.
She had known there would be people down here.
She had not expected to find anyone she did not know quite this intimately.
After a moment, curiosity won, and she picked her way across the street and towards the sense of her own power floating in the air. She told Ayame to take up position back in the hair pin, and the little spirit flickered out of sight. Her fingers curled around the smooth oaken staff, then relaxed as she told herself to stay calm. She could. She'd watched Lea. Cool and collected as a cucumber she would be!
Then she saw the flutter of auburn hair, heard the rustle of movement further down the street, and every pretense of being unruffled flew from her.
She made a tiny, astonished noise and covered her mouth with a hand.
