Now, Black had given Burn the order to show up at six in the morning a day or so prior -- right after the elevator incident. He had then shown up at six in the morning to find only their employer, and had been less than pleased to have excuses made for his coworker ( ... )

Oh my. A look at Burn notified him that he was doing alright. Of course, the way he hovered over him from a distance, always keeping out of sight, he would know that even without viewing him so up close. His hands were serile, so he didn't touch. Pulling out something from the oven, he settled it onto a cooling rack.

Such poor little hands and arms. They were so burnt. Hadn't the boss thought to be more careful with this one? The doughtnuts took a while to master, always bubbling and popping at the wrong times. He'd almost feel guility for not being there to show him the correct way.

The question made a brow cock lightly. Didn't the boss usually have it finished as well? Though Black did work with an eerie almost perfect timing. "For the most part, but we can start preparing more bread should the need for extra arrive. It'll sell as it often does. We can use it for the meat buns. Get me the ingredients, won't you?"

If the marks bothered Burn at all, he didn't show it, but he certainly saw Black looking at them, and that alone seemed to bother him. It was actually true that the boss normally had most everything set up by the time Burn started his shift, but he was quickly becoming accustomed to what was needed. It was a thousand little things, most that he hadn't yet learned, but could at least somewhat recognize. Everything was so neat, in such perfect order ( ... )

Black was already readjusting the oven to the right temperature. At the cute frustrated noise and walked over and at least took the meat out of his hands, as it would be safest separate from everything else, as he was surely not assisting. He unwrapped it and let it settle. The sugar, quick rising yeast and flour would come first. Taking out a bowl, he slid over a short standing stool for him, smiling as not to offend him. He needed to see after all.

"Take a good sized bowl, as you'll need the room." He picked up the flour and poured it in, showing him the measurements along with the salt and the quick rising yeast. Adding water he set the bowl against the edge, mixing it for him to see, then covered it to let it rise, explaining what he was doing.

Picking up the cabbage, he showed him how to slice then directed him towards the sink, "Go wash it over there, carefully. Strain it with your hands."
