It hadn't really occurred to Qǐ to ask for a name; for her it was as simple as finding someone whose thoughts ran along the lines of the things the author had written about Can I paint? Why is this familiar when I remember nothing? They weren't, in her experience, the common sort of thoughts for a newborn so she doubted it'd be that difficult.

Turns out it wasn't. A small girl with her hair in a few loose braids (in dire need of redoing) waved up at Reki with a few small, Disney-themed journals in hand. "Hello!"

Someone was calling. Reki blinked, coming out of her reverie, and leaned over to see a girl waving at her from a lower branch.

"Hey," she said, raising a hand in greeting. "Are you the one she said would be looking for me? Should I come down, or what?"

How did somebody get between the branches, here? Walk back towards the trunk? For a moment, she wished her wings could carry her. She'd flexed and flapped them in the shower, trying to get the goo out of the pale feathers, but they were nearly impossible to groom with a washcloth, let alone get off the ground with. Bits of half-dried orange stuff were still dried here and there among her feathers.

"Can come up." She could and did, climbing various branches rather quickly for someone so small. What happened to her shoes, anyway? Not that Qǐ tended to notice when she lost her shoes, it happened so often.

Once she was there she stared, slightly, at the wings and the halo. "They don't work? Aw..." That would have been fun to see but she shook her head and forced herself to remember why she was there. "Here! Journals for nonbroadcast transmissions."

[Oops. I meant Kurayami up there. XD;]

The girl climbed with the sure feet of practice. Kurayami couldn't help smiling. She ought to get this girl to teach her how to do that.

The question about her wings gave her a moment's pause. "Not really, no," Kurayami admitted, resettling them against her back. "Should they?" There didn't seem to be a back or a front to the smock she'd been given, but even leaving the tie open and turning it to the back hadn't quite made enough room for her wings and it wasn't exactly comfortable. She'd have to find something else to wear soon.

She took the offered journals and smiled at the bright colors. "Thanks. You sure it's okay?"
