It'd been awhile since Steve's shift. Not that he particularly minded; he'd grabbed up a DS Lite and PSP back when the Wilderness had gone Manhattan and a couple games for each system. He was even playing the DS Lite now and seemed quite focused. Of course, he never abandoned his duty, and, in fact, he always looked up when a cocoon wriggled about particularly hard, though his ears were filled with music and his eyes were glued to the screen. He had a couple piles of supplies next to him, containing the usual: The magic-paper journal, clothes, a map of Edenspehre, a bag of currency, and towels. He hadn't expected anything to be particularly different today, and, to be honest, he wasn't really expecting any hatchlings at all. Of course he was prepared, just not expecting; after all, Edensphere had the height of its fertility, then it suddenly just stopped, and now it was slowly evening out once more to its usual one or two per day. Or every other day. How should he know? He certainly wasn't there every day, that was for sure.
For a moment he paused to chew lazily on the stylus, eyes lifting to scan the rows upon rows of eggs. He'd gotten so used to it by now, but it still seemed so freaky and strange when he remembered it wasn't the way things were supposed to be. He sometimes got a little homesick when he was here because it reminded him that he had a family, one that had sincerely cared about him. The DS Lite and PSP provided good distractions. Seemed like he'd have to take a break, though, because two eggs simply wouldn't stop squirming about. He saved and turned it off and set it aside, grabbing up the provisions and walking towards the cacoons. He patiently waited for the soon to be newest arrivals of Edensphere. What he didn't know was that they had both been here already. And he certainly wasn't expecting to see Fugue of all people.
