Lost was passing by, his hands shoved deep into the pockets of the long coat he'd bought some time ago. It seemed like it was an acceptable purchase to make, since the weather tended to be cold more often than not.

The time was late, so not many people were walking around Bazaar Ltd., but Lost was, for reasons of his own. Sometimes the quietness of his house became too much for the older man, and during those times, he decided that the solitude of the outdoors was preferable to that of his residence.

So that was what he was doing walking around the area when he happened to spot an almost familiar face: the cat-like individual he'd spoken with briefly before.

What he was doing out this late, Lost had no idea. But, he decided no harm would come of walking up and talking to him again.

He heard Lost as he approached, though at first didn't respond. Despite the foreboding whispers of late, Shoanji was not afraid of being randomly attacked. Who would want to harm him, after all? He was harmless, as far as most were concerned.

Unless you were a fork maybe.

Eventually he did turn to the man he remembered speaking with, and stealing from, not too long ago. He flashed the man a toothy grin. "Warm greetings."

Lost fought off the urge to laugh as he heard Shoanji's greetings. "The same to you, though I don't think it's warm enough outside for my words to express adequate warmth," he said with a slight smile.

He glanced at Shoanji, noting his fur-covered appearance. "I suppose, however, that you don't notice the cold very much."

"No," Shoanji agreed, turning his gaze back to the blocked sky. "Shoanji does not like the cold either. Shoanji thinks his people are from warm lands, much warmer than this." His tail swished thoughtfully again, then he laughed lightly.

"Not that this one remembers."

"I see," Lost said, shoving his hands deeper into his coat pockets, as they felt like they were getting colder. "If you aren't on friendly terms with the cold, then it seems strange that you would be out in it."

His eyes trailed over to Shoanji's swishing tail as he replied with a tone he hoped was level and unthreatening; he was merely making an observation.

"Shoanji might say the same to you." He replied with a grin, turning his gaze back to the sky for a time.

Evidently he didn't take the question as offensive or threatening, or he just wasn't concerned about it. His reasons for being out so late and in the cold were his own, after all. "Why do Khajiit do what they do? Better question would be 'what will Khajiit do next?'." Another grin flashed in Lost's direction. He might just be talking riddles, by now.

"That is a good point," Lost said with a dry laugh, also looking upwards at the dark sky above them.

He returned his gaze back to look at Shoanji, suddenly curious by what he'd just said. "Sorry, but I don't know what Khajiit are. Once I do, however, I might be better equipped to answer your questions." There was a brief pause, and he added, "I assume that you're a Khajiit, but I don't believe I've met one before." And of course, Lost was aware that perhaps Shoanji wasn't expecting answers to his questions.

Shoanji nodded, at that, returning his gaze back to Lost, a hint of amusement in his feline eyes. "Yes, Shoanji is Khajiit. Shoanji has noticed that none here know what Khajiit are, and so are surprised by Shoanji." An amusing, if dangerous thing for them. Not knowing the nature of those among you can lead to many misunderstandings, so far most have managed to not insult him, however.

"Strange place, this, very strange. So many come from places where only one race exist, Shoanji thinks that this is very sad, very boring. One race, humans, and that is all."

It didn't escape Lost's notice that Shoanji didn't exactly tell him what a Khajiit was. Either he did that on purpose, or something else. Lost was more inclined to believe the former. But either way, he wasn't going to pry, because in his experience, that just led to people clamming up.

"They aren't seen at all where I'm from that I know of. But I suppose I can agree - there seem to be many people from different places, so you'd think there'd be more than just people here." Lost fell silent after he said that, crossing his arms. The discrepancy was something he'd never thought of, until Shoanji mentioned it, but now he wondered what reasons there were, if any, to explain it. "Maybe in the future, others will show up," he said finally.

In truth, it would be very difficult to explain what a Khajiit was with no memories, and perhaps harder with them. Shoanji was a secretive creature by nature, likely a trait he shared with many of his kind.

He tilted his head at Lost's use of the word "people" to mean only humans, though he was amused by that as well, if slightly offended. No reason to bring it up, however, as Lost was clearly not from the same place Shoanji was. "Perhaps, perhaps not. Who can say?"
