Another day, another shift. Cross shuffled a deck of cards with the expertise of a professional card shark. Over time he'd regained his impressive cheating abilities from counting cards to swift switching. He was pleased with a restoration of his survival skill. He hated losing at poker, it was completely unacceptable.
His attention was diverted when he heard two cocoons wriggle and looked up. Sure enough they did it again. He slowly got to his feet and gathered up two newborn kits with a lazy whistle. They'd go through the greeting like always. He had tea on if they wanted it. He felt like it helped them settle a little to have something warm to soothe the confusion.
