Before Dani? After? During? All of the above? burntorangesky November 14 2009, 01:49:12 UTC
Fred peeked out of the lift as the doors opened, staring at the white stuff that coated the ground immediately in front of her. She stepped out into it, smiling to herself as her feet sank beneath the surface slightly.

She was wearing what amounted to a token gesture against the cold--long, slightly thick pants, a long-sleeved shirt topped by a light pullover with a jacket thrown over them all, and boots. A sharp-nosed head popped up from where her ferret was lying across her shoulders, in place of a scarf.

Woooow, it really is snowing! Very interesting, like this place has a... I don't know... a weather system all it's own, or something. And you get lost here without someone with you? That doesn't even make sense!

She laughed. "Perhaps not, but that is simply how it is. Come on, let's go find Juliet, I'm sure he will be pleased to see us."

At least, Fred hoped so. It had been an awkward couple of weeks while she had been forced to wear the sling, a visible reminder of what Juliet had done. Now that she had finally taken the sling off, hopefully it would make things a bit easier for the both of them.

Ann was fluttering around as Juliet lay on the ground, making a snow angel. "You dolt," she tweeted.

"Dolt? I'm offended," he responded. He would have swooned, but that's hard to do when you're laying on the ground. "I am perfectly intelligent. It will look good when it's done."

The cardinal landed on his chest and affectionately pecked his glasses. He smiled softly at her. It was good to hear her voice.

Then he heard more footsteps. He wondered who it was. Maybe they'd make another angel with him.

Coool~ After Dani, then! burntorangesky November 14 2009, 03:47:22 UTC
Fred walked across the snow, following the tracks several other people had left for lack of any other trail to go by. Her breath puffed out in front of her but the cold didn't seem to be affecting her otherwise.

Do you have any idea where you're going? 'Cause... I think you're lost.

"I don't have a map, how can I avoid being lost? But I'm sure I will run into something if I just keep following these tracks. And less commentary on my directional skills would be appreciated, unless you want to get down and carry me for a bit."

Fine, fine, don't get huffy.

"I wasn't--!" A flash of red caught her eye. A bird? She followed the footsteps as they led in that direction, until she could see a familiar redhead lying on the snow and apparently attempting to swim in it. "You see? I told you we would find something if we just kept walking. Hello, Juliet!" She raised one hand in a greeting.

"Hello Fred!" he replied as he pushed himself up to a sitting position. Ann flew up and pecked his crown. "There's snow in your hair."

"Of course," he replied. To pacify her, he made a halfhearted swipe to brush some out. "This is as good as you're getting."

It was a different Juliet that was in front of Fred. Genuinely happy, no trace of shame or sorrow, and much more relaxed. Strange how frozen water brought out the child in some people. "There's enough snow to play!"

Seeing Juliet so genuinely happy eased tension Fred hadn't even noticed she had been feeling until this moment. She smiled and then, impulsively, bent down slightly to scoop up a handful of snow. She quickly formed it into a loosely-packed ball with her hands and lobbed it in Juliet's general direction with a laugh.

It hit Juliet in the shoulder, who gave a look of mock shock. As he stood up, he gathered his own snow and then tossed it at her. He smiled broadly. Snow angels could wait, a snowball fight was much more interesting. Ann flew off to the side to a tree, sighing her fake disapproval.

Juliet's snowball hit Fred in the shoulder as well. Last squeaked in surprise and ran down her arm to land in the snow, where he dashed for cover behind some snowmen that Juliet had probably made before Fred arrived.

Fred chuckled as she ran after the ferret, hoping to find some cover so she would be at least partially protected from Juliet's assault. As she ran, she scooped up a little more snow and lobbed it over her shoulder without looking to see where Juliet was.

Expecting it this time, he dodged. Fred had taken over the snowmen...so he needed a new shelter. Quickly, he pulled a new heap of snow towards him and made a short fragile wall. He pulled together another snowball and tossed it in the direction of the snowmen. He was trying to strengthen his paltry wall at the same time.

Fred dodged Juliet's throw more by luck than anything else--at the same time that he threw it, she was just diving behind the snowmen. It almost hit her, really. She spent a few moments gathering up handfuls of snow and patting them into shape, building herself up a store of ammunition... and also giving Juliet plenty of time to fortify his own shelter, though that was entirely unintentional.

He took full advantage of the time, making it high enough to hide behind and strong enough to withstand a few blows. He peered out over the top, looking to see if Fred was about to throw. Seeing that she wasn't, he leaned over and pulled snow closer, trying to make two or three more snowballs before she did.

She peeked around the side of one of her snowmen-barriers--it was a bit unfortunate there were spaces between them, but what can you do--spying a flash of red as Juliet ducked back down behind his snow-wall. She grinned, aimed carefully, and threw two snow balls at the fort. It was a tricky angle; she might not manage to hit him at all.

The first hit his back, but he dodged the second. So, that was her angle...He made another ball, then came up and threw one between two of the snowmen. He watched it go, hoping it would connect.

Fred happened to be peeking between those snowmen to see if her throws had connected. She saw his missile coming toward her, but too late to do anything about it but flinch slightly and raise a hand to shield herself. It hit her arm dead-on, but at least her face was saved. Laughing to herself, she gathered up a few more snowballs, launching them in the direction of Juliet's fort.
