Fred frowned slightly as she pushed open the door to the bar. She wasn't really sure why she had decided to come help--only that Roswell had mentioned that morning that there was going to be a party, and that Lucy would probably need some help setting up.

She walked into the main room, looking around for someone who might be Lucy as she did. She noted absently that the bar was still the same pretty shade of pink it had been the first time she had been in there.

Lucy didn't really care about the fact that the bar was pink. She lived in a pink house after all! The girl sat cross-legged on the floor, pulling various party favours and other items out of a box. Her sense were a bit sharper that day as her full attention was needed to finish her task.

Looking up, Lucy spotted Fred and smiled broadly. "Good Morning! Come to help out?"

Fred had nothing against the color pink. In fact, she would have to see if she could get some clothing made in that color. Perhaps a coat... the idea of a pink coat appealed to her somehow.

She walked over to the woman who was pulling items out of a box. Blinking, she recognized her as the woman who had gotten hurt when Roswell found out his... difficulty with alcohol. She opened her mouth to ask how her hand was, but thought better of it. Instead she said, "Roswell said you might need help. So, erm. Here I am. To help."

"Great!" Lucy said cheerfully as she hopped up and plopped three conveniently coordinated coloured rolls of streamer paper onto the table and a roll of tape onto a nearby table.

They slided easily across the polished surface toward Fred who would likely notice that the injured hand was good as new! It now dawned on Lucy that this was the other woman who had been injured in her last snafu at the bar and she nodded a couple times. "Alrighty! Take these rolls of crepe paper and make a U-shape," she explained as she motioned the shape she meant with her hand. "And hang them up on the wall."

Fred did indeed notice that Lucy's hand had healed nicely. Fred herself had no marks from her close encounter with sharp glass, of course--death and rebirth in Edensphere seemed to fix these little problems. She stopped the various rolls of streamer paper and tape from sliding off the table, picking them up and watching as Lucy showed her what she should do with them.

She nodded, and started to walk away to go do that, but then she stopped and turned back. Bowing slightly to Lucy, she said, "I apologize for my atrocious manners, Lucy. My name is Fred; it's good to meet you properly at last."

This was probably the first time anyone had bowed to Lucy and while it had her a little perplexed, she returned the gesture. She'd offend someone else later in the morning but she wanted the day to go perfectly. The perky brunette was all smiles anyway as she gave Fred a thumbs up.

"It's nice to meet you! ...Again."

There was a downside to being known as the kid with the ability to create something out of (apparently) nothing. All attempts to explain that he needed matter to create things, that he didn't just do it generally failed. But he had been coerced into helping with decorations, so here he was, rather sullenly. A huge hat, possibly nearing a third of Alchemy's height without it, rested atop his head, securely attached around his chin with a strap.

Because like hell he was letting everyone see, as Fullmetal had put it, his "mold". He pouted as he put his alchemy to work creating streamers, complaining bitterly about the whole thing.

He wasn't even getting paid for it!

It had been awhile since Lucy had seen alchemy in action as she stopped hanging banners and watched Alchemy at work. She didn't know a lot about the science but the perky brunette hopped down from the chair she'd been standing on. Rifling around in the box full of decorations, Lucy produced four rolls of different coloured crepe paper and brought them over to the pipsqueak.

"Will these help, Alchemy?"

As soon as his name left her mouth, the boy tensed and stopped. The transmutation was completed, but he didn't continue beyond that. He stood, knocking over the chair he was in. He ripped the streamers from her hand.

"Who're you calling so tiny a molecule is bigger?!" The boy slammed them onto the table. Shorty. He had even asked people not to call him that, and here they were. Doing it. Really? It was infuriating. This was why he preferred books. Really. They didn't talk back or call you names!

Bunch of assholes. It was a huge conspiracy this week. He was convinced of that.

Lucy stepped back several paces, blinking in confusion. Is this what he'd meant? Her head tilted to the left for several moments as she pondered her next words carefully. Her first instinct was to pick up the chair that he'd knocked over. All she'd said was his name... what was so wrong about that? She didn't understand but was determined not to let it get to her.

"I didn't call you anything," she replied calmly. "I don't make fun of people for being small. I'm sorry about whatever I said and when you need more crepe paper, let me know."

With that, she turned away and went back to the banners she was hanging.

He picked it back up and as she went back to her work, paused. Wait. She still called him small. He grumbled and picked up the chair. Whatever. He'd get her back later.

Alchemy remembered these things.
