Spike was in a very good mood tonight. He was somewhat excited with all of the new arrivals that had been coming in lately, he and Bridge were living together and getting along again, he was still madly in love with a gorgeous woman...
Aside from death, naturally, his life was pretty darn good.
Heck, he was even on duty with a Guide who wasn't late, or off eating (DUMPLING), or needing anything beyond a bathroom break. So Spike diligently patrolled the Hatchery, spear in hand, occasionally pausing to think about what to do after his shift was over. He wasn't very tired.
Maybe I'll go and see Companion... it'll be pretty late, but she's never minded that before. I'm sure Bridge and Rabbit will be up all night playing video games anyway. I love just holding her while she's sleeping...
A dreamy expression stole over his face. And then, as usual, the stirring of a cocoon roused Spike from his thoughts. Of course it had to happen during the bathroom break. He stretched, then went over to the table, grabbed the newborn kit and went to the cocoon to wait.
