And life went on.
He hadn't seen Kazahana since they had last spoken, and that was probably for the best. A coward, she had called him. And maybe she was right about him. Maybe he was a coward. But he wouldn't have her hurt because of him, not with what he knew now.
He wouldn't have anyone hurt. There was only one person he could trust to be by his side, and that was because they had been through everything together. Justice was always there, would always be there, and he had to trust him. He had no choice. But that didn't mean he had to believe him. Now, more than ever, he was determined to prove Justice...Edgeworth...wrong. He had to.
Tonight he was sitting at the desk in the hall, flipping through the birth records and trying to piece it together. They always seemed to start and stop at the same time every month, but why? That meant that he'd be greeting again soon...and as if in answer to his thoughts, he heard the telltale sound of one of the cocoons shifting and something landing against the floor. He gathered up the bundle at the desk, grabbing a towel and walking over to where he heard the sound coming from.
