Clearing the air

Summary: After he and Spike have another row, Bridge decides to seek out Companion and be honest with her about his past feelings for Spike, hoping it will provide solace.

So much had happened to Bridge in the past few days that he didn't even think that Spike would make him own up to what he'd said in his journal entry just after his memory. He'd said Spike was too busy for him, the unwritten implication being that Companion was the reason for that. He was upset, though, he reasoned, and thus that comment shouldn't be taken so hard. He tried telling Spike this, which had led to another argument between the two.
He had to have meant it on some level, Spike had told him, and Bridge eventually realized with a huge twinge of guilt that he was right. He'd told Spike he was over him, but those kinds of feelings weren't as easy to let go of as he'd thought. Even harder to let go of was the jealousy eating at him, the ugly feelings that reared their heads every time Spike mentioned Companion and Bridge saw that dreamy, besotted expression. The logical part of his brain knew that neither of them had done anything wrong, but his heart kept tugging at him.
Spike finally told him to leave the house and go be square with Companion, and not come back until he did, so Bridge was going to do just that. He wasn't sure what it would accomplish, if he had to be perfectly honest with himself, but he came to Serenity to look for her, anyway.
