Summary: After raging and hitting things, Spike goes to cry on his girlfriend's shoulder. I'm handwaving Spike's mini-rampage- he just went to the dojo and attacked some dummies for a while, then went to the park and ran 'til he felt ready to collapse before dragging himself to the spa to see Companion.
------
Spike was a wreck by the time he wound up at the entrance to the spa. He knew it was late, but he wanted nothing more than to see Companion at that particular moment.
Kanin was gone.
One of his earliest, closest friends in the Sphere... and he was gone.
Just like that, according to Alexi. Disappeared.
It had happened before, yes- many times- to people he'd cared about. But Kanin going hurt his heart in a way that nobody else had. No matter how many times Spike reassured himself that Kanin was probably happy where he was, and that they'd had a wonderful friendship in their time together here, and that he, Spike, had to be strong, he felt empty inside.
He hadn't cried. Not yet, anyway. He'd gone and beat up some dummies for a while until his fists were bleeding, then wandered in blind rage and grief to the park, found the track, and ran- ran until his legs felt ready to give out. Only then did he concede that maybe it was time to let his grief out.
"C-companion?" he called out, his voice shaking slightly. His knuckles were still bloody, and his right arm occasionally glowed dimly, as though he could not control his powers.
