The breeze caught him off guard and he had to bring up a hand quickly to hold his hat onto his head. "Ooh~ this is interesting." He smiled at the fresh air, basking in it as he walked at an easy pace. Squish, squish...he paused and searched for the source of the noise. He had almost overlooked the pink creature the first time. He regarded it carefully, glancing it up and down before taking a step closer, "What is that...?" Curiosity got the best of him...and the flailing gestures didn't help deter any. "Hey there~!"

Undulating her glorious body, Bernard hurried with a squishy fish out of water movement as best as she could.

It seemed the thing was not capable of speech (...there had been stranger things, it was worth a shot), but still demonstrated some kind of emotions. It certainly didn't appear aggressive.

THIS MAN MUST BE HER ONE TRUE LOVE! HER SOUL MATE!!
Bernard made a happy chirping noise. Of course, she had a squid-like beak and was not capable of human speech, but being a tentacle monster, she magically understood all human language all the same. She was almost dancing, her suckers dilating in glee. Oh, she must hold him close to her soft, wet, and sort of squishy body!

OH LOVE, she thought, WE FINALLY MEET!

"Got a grip...on you," he wheezed out and tried to free his arms from the hold to free himself.

The look of desperation was swept from his face when he managed to free one of his arms. Grinning proudly he gripped onto the tentacles and tried to pull himself free.

Was he...trying to get away...?
He called for help, that must be it! He was just like all the other men in her life, leading her on and breaking her heart just when she was ready to give herself!
The chirping stopped...and instead she gave a low-pitched cry of sorrow.

Most people would go in the opposite direction when a tentacle monster appeared. In fact, that was exactly what she had planned to do when she saw Honest approach it. She stopped to watch out of sheer curiosity...was he cooing at it?
She wasn't at all surprised when it launched itself at him, although he seemed to be. She crossed her arms over her chest, standing just outside the thing's range. He finally seemed to realize this was all a bad idea, and started to struggle in its grip.
"Oh, you need help?" she called in response to his cry. "I thought the two of you might want some privacy."

"Bastet~!" he almost smiled but the situation did not call for it. "I could use a hand, here," he tried to lower his voice a little noticing the demeanor of the animal had changed.

Her tentacly grip only tightened, not wanting to face the sad reality of her situation. Not only had see been let down, but there was even another woman!

She would have been happy to stand there and continue to talk shit--he really did deserve it for being stupid enough to get himself into this. But the monster's whole demeanor was changing, and by the look on Honest's face, its grip was tightening. She didn't want him dead, after all.
She sighed, rolling her eyes. "Moron," she said loudly. Might as well test out her newly-discovered speed. She shot forward, aiming a strike at the nearest tentacle.

Suddenly she was incredibly close. Surprised, he flinched, hat tilted down over his eyes to protect his face from bodily harm...or at least that was a comforting thought.

But more so...from the pain of her heart.
All her tentacles released her long lost love, her beak snapping as she emitted the sound of a whale dying of misery, or something like that. Mortified and heart-broken, Bernard covered her eyes with her longest tentacles, slopping her way to the other side of the deck.
