Reverie was very new here, and despite how calm and collected he may have seemed, his mind was racing. Nothing like being dropped in the middle of an ark (that was apparently not always an ark) not knowing who you were or where you came from. Even for his own comfortable calm, he was a tad unsettled.

The deck was good for this. It allowed him to just walk, in his new clothes with his new journal, and thinking about his dream - the woman, the fox, the panther, the gem. He would reach into his pocket and think that if he thought about it hard enough, the gem would be there again. No such luck, though.

He startled when the enormous pink monster appeared on deck. A squid, perhaps. His curiosity wanted him to get close to it, but right now he stood, amused, from a distance.

That Aurora girl-man-thing was a total bust - Bernard had been nothing but friendly to him/her/it and this was the thanks she got! Maybe this was why she stayed deep under the water's surface, to lament and mope about her loneliness and troubles on her own. Or maybe not all humans were like that...

She made a clicking noise, looking around with her tentacle monster-ish eyes. Was it time or a massacre, or would she make new friends? It seems someone else had appeared on board, and like a horny moth with two minutes left to live, she wiggled her tentacles and moved towards the newcomer.

He was still measuring the pros and cons of getting close to it, when it appeared his decision had been made for him.

By the monster itself.

It moved towards him with an alarming amount of speed. It also wiggled one of the numerous tentacles it had, and, pretty assured there was no other option, waved back with a hand of his own.

"Hello there," he said, looking up at where its face must have been, "You're new here, too?"

Someone was...was speaking to her?? This was a miracle! Instead of running and screaming and avoiding her loving caress. Bernard chirped in her friendly squid manner and picked up the pace as best as she could. When she finally reached the man, she clicked and chirped again, taking his hand with two of her tentacles and trying to hold it and shake hands like she had seen many other people do.

"It's nice to meet you." Despite how incredibly odd it was, shaking hands with an enormous squid, he shook back. "You don't seem very dangerous at all, are you? I'm Reverie. Who're you?"

Oh, this was absolutely wonderful! Perhaps this man was really her one true love! She released him to click a few times, doing a large, gloppy twirl before doing her best to try and convey her name...however, Bernard was a tentacle monster, and couldn't read. This not speaking thing was very difficult.

Reverie realized shortly after he'd asked the question that the utter lack of anything resembling a mouth, combined with the fact that this was some sort of enormous squid, made the answer difficult. Oh well. "Well, it's nice to meet you anyway. Did you come from underground? Are you always here, even when the ark isn't?"

Sloshing her way over to the side of the deck, Bernard made motions for down to the ocean. He was obviously enthralled by her, and Bernard couldn't deny she had a certain special something that made her stand out amongst the crowd. Bernard chirped and clicked, waving her tentacles as she moised her way back over to the man.

"Hmm, the sea, then." Though the answers were barely decipherable (he wondered if he could speak squid before he'd forgotten), there really was no other way to avoid being eaten, crushed or otherwise maimed by it than to pretend he understood. He played idly with the rogue hair hanging over his face and looked up at the squid. "Do you come out of the ocean often?"
