Summary: As the four are stuck Blood's memory begins...dun dun dun
A man is walking down a street in a rather dusty looking patch of destitute town, a sword resting on his shoulder as he seems to be looking for something specific. A piano is heard, indicating that the viewer is seeing a scene from the past, an important moment in the life of the bald traveler. Everyone in the dream is dressed in yukata or kimono, most wrapped in thin blankets and obviously living in dire straights.
The bald man angrily glances around, a grimace on his face as he passes by an attractive man with long dark hair. "Fighting again, ******?" he asks, although the name is blocked by static. The surly man grunts his assent as he continues along, the other man following.
"You're going to run out of opponents here." The man finally speaks, commenting that if that were to happen he would just move on to the next district, which causes a slight smile to come to the face of the almost 'pretty' one. "Would you wipe your face? It isn't beautiful, you know."
The bald man complies by dragging the back of his hand across his face as he struts down the street. The voice over chimes in again, informing us of the temperament of the man. A quick shift cuts to a fight, the bald man getting punched right in the cheek by an overweight man with an afro. He smiles as the voice continues to explain the significance of the event.
Back to the ramshackle town, the man is calling out for anyone strong to come and face him. He gets no answer, changing his tactics to ask instead if anyone wants to die, still there is no real acknowledgment that anyone cared about what he was doing there. The silence is cut by the most unexpected of noises - a giggle.
The man, obviously confused, heads towards the noise only to encounter a small pink-haired toddler drawing in chalk on the road. The girl is dressed in a violet-colored kimono with a reddish sash, the clothing far nicer than the rags on most others in the area. Not noticing the dark covered lump sitting far back behind her, he stares down at the child as she ignores him to work on her picture, speaking in a cheery tone. "You should go home. Ken-chan's in a good mood." She sits up, her face utterly serious. "So you'd get beaten up for sure."
The man smirks, clearly unaware of exactly what the child knows. "He's gonna beat me up because he's in a good mood? That doesn't make sense."
"You're pretty dense, huh?" she responds, her eyes wide with obvious worry for the big dumb bald idiot. "He doesn't hold back when he's in a good mood because he's having too much fun." The view pans down to the picture she's been drawing, revealing it to be a spiky-haired man running the bald man through with a sword.
The man slashes towards the ground at the sight of her drawing, clearly angry at the girl. At his threatening motion the lump behind her begins to move, a deep voice resonating from it. "Hold on. Leave her alone." The figure stands up, the sheet sliding off to reveal an imposing giant of a man with a sword strapped to his back and a scar running the length of his face down one side through the eye.
A flare of yellow reiatsu emanates from him for a quick burst, destroying the sheet. The giant seems impassive as he watches the bald man's reaction. "Not gonna run?" Sweat pours down the neck of the bald man as he swallows heavily, responding with an apology, stating that he's in a good mood as well before jumping back. A moment passes where the three stare each other down, as a dust cloud flows across the road.
The scene changes to the main road, the villagers have all gathered to watch. The attractive man comments to his friend, questioningly, the bald man responds that he requires no assistance. He then questions the strength of the larger man, proclaiming himself to be strong as well. The giant clearly is looking forward to a challenge, and the fight begins.
As everyone is watching in rapt fascination, divots appearing in the ground at the force the larger man is using to drive his adversary back, the pink-haired child has moved to sit on a barrel next to the pretty boy. The fight breaks for a moment, the giant smiles in a vaguely threatening manner as a thin rivulet of blood drips from the bald man's forehead. He licks the droplets that slide past his lips, smirking that this was the first time someone had made him bleed.
He jumps right back into the fray, clearly giving his all as his opponent deflects and parries his attacks with an almost laughable ease. As he dodges the frenetic attacks coming from the bald man, the shaggy-haired friend is seen biting his thumbnail. "What is this? I can barely see his attacks." He's so focused he jumps slightly when a chirp attracts his attention.
"Ken-chan's smiling." The girl looks at ease, fidgeting her legs slightly but leaning back with her eyes closed and a smile on her face. She sits up, eyes opening wide as she brings a finger to her lips. "Too bad though. It's almost over." The man besides her quickly returns his attention to the fight, clearly worried.
The bald man is bloodied, sweaty, and short on breath as he prepares for another pass. The large man lets his blade drop downward. "That was fun. It's been a while since I really let loose." He moves like a blur, rushing forward and clearly ending the battle. The scene shifts again, the bald man is downed, the giant walking towards a gate with the girl hanging from his shoulder.
The giant seems shocked that the bald man is still alive, seemingly surprised at the anger coming from his opponent. The bald man shrieks "What the Hell, man? Why don't you finish me off? You won!" The giant retorts his lack of concern over his inability to finish off his opponent, commenting "I don't give a rat's ass about you now that you can't fight." as the child peeks over his shoulder. The giant continues, "And I'm not exactly obligated to kill you either." while the girl stares up at him, absorbing this information.
The bald man continues to get upset, accusing the big man of mocking him and urging him to just kill him. The giant picks him up by his yukata, staring down at him. "If you like fighting then quit bitching about not being killed! Don't just accept defeat and beg for death! Accept it after you're dead! If you lose without dying it means luck was on your side. When that happens focus on surviving." The bald man is most definitely shocked. "Survive and kill the person who couldn't kill you!"
The reactions of the pretty one and the child are shown, shock and comprehension respectively. The giant loosens his grip, grinning. "It's not like I held back. The only reason you're not dead is because you're lucky. Live! Live, and come try to kill me again!" There is a challenge there, clear in his eyes before he drops the bald man, walking away with the girl back on his shoulder.
The bald man entreats them to wait, requesting the giant's name. He responds, "Kenpachi. It's Kenpachi of Zaraki." They continue walking towards the gate, the bald man repeating the name as the voice over intones that after the bald man's injuries healed he set out in search of Kenpachi of Zaraki so they could fight again, but he had no idea where he had gone.
