Kazahana waited outside for Hakuteiken to arrive, perched on a section of the tree that made an excellent seat. She needed the air after the drinks she'd had with Kiba, and it was nice out; why not take advantage of it?
The truth was that she couldn't stand just sitting inside, waiting for him to show up so she could break the news. Her heart twisted at the prospect. Even if she had no formal allegiance to him as they'd thought, she still cared for him after spending so much time together trying to re-forge a relationship that had never existed.
Besides, if the memory was to be believed--and it was--he had been more than her sister's husband. He'd adopted her as his own sister, and that made him her big brother. That was reason enough to want to look out for him, even now.
