Renae wanted her paintbrush and normal clothing back, but their absence wasn't enough to dampened her mood. She was willing to put up with almost anything as compensation for that. Her PJs were a bright blue, with yellow chocobos all over. Not terribly dignified, but she didn't especially care.

"I'm here!" She ran to catch up with Helios, clutching her satchel and a fat pillow that was supposed to be her own weapon.

"Y'know, it'd be nice if the tree would stop fuckin' with our stuff." Helios commented lightly as she ran up, and waved his own pillow irritably. "Let's go check out the damage." Somehow he doubted that their house had made it out entirely unscathed. If those ants were as vicious as everyone kept saying they were anyway.

Oh well. He shuffled into the elevator with the crowd and made sure a spot was open for Renae.

"Yeah, right. Like that will ever happen. It'll probably just grow boobs again and try to smother you, just for saying that." Renae giggled, heading into the elevator and pressing the button. It was good to finally be able to do that without risk or being greeted by an ant as soon as the good opened.

Helios shuddered at the memory. "Ugh, don't remind me." No he really did not want to be hugged by a well endowed tree again. Ever. The ride wasn't long for them, since their stop was the first level anyway. Helios stepped out and made his way to their small dwelling, not pleased with the devastation that he saw along the branches. Those ants really had done some nasty damage.

"Doesn't look encouraging."

Renae fidgeted during the ride, too excited to stay still. Once they reached the proper level, she darted out and peered around at the debris. "...no, it doesn't. C'mon, we might as well see how bad it is."

At this point, she wasn't expecting much.

Nor was he, then again Helios hadn't been from the start. He trotted after the swift little Renae down the branch to their home. Well... what remained of it. Apparently the ants were certain that something delicious was inside. It wasn't like it had been very sturdy to begin with.

"So that's what it looks like when ants chew off your roof." He commented dryly.

Renae skidded to a stop and stared, wide-eyed at the splintered remains of the roof. "...wow. They really didn't like our place...or loved it to pieces."

She headed forward, carefully making her way over the mess. "Did you leave anything behind that was important? 'Cause you're probably not going to get it back. Oh hey, look at that!"

Helios sighed and picked his way over the splintered door, picking it up and tossing it aside once he'd passed. Startled he glanced in Renae's direction half expecting to see an ant, instead there was a gaping hole in the floor. "Really, really didn't like our place. Nah I didn't have anything more than some clothes, and the list." Which he'd need to re-write evidently.

"...Sorry 'bout your sketches."

Renae sighed heavily as she stepped around the gaping hole to pick up half of a torn, dusty sketch. Pieces of another were nearby. She shook her head, frowning. "...at least I still have the ones in my sketchbook. Most can easily be redone anyway, but damn those ants for making me do them all over again."

She turned to look at Helios, about to ask him something when she stumbled on a splint of a beam, yelping as she nearly tumbled into the hole.

"Guess this is a good excuse to move up to Section 2, assumin' it hasn't been torn to shreds as bad as this place." He searched around a little for anything salvageable, glad for once at his habit of minimalism. He reacted quickly to Renae's yelp and stumble, reaching out to snatch her arm and pull her back from the hole.

"Careful." Once satisfied she had stable footing he wrenched the portion of the door still hanging on the frame and tossed it over the hole. "There... still be careful of it."

"Thanks." Renae glared down at the hole as though it had personally insulted her. "Well, not much point in sticking around and staring at the ants' handiwork. If there's something here still worth taking with us, let's snag it and see what Section Two is like."

"Agreed." With that Helios began to dig through the rubble, though he didn't find much of use other than some clothing he'd left behind... which had turned into pajamas like the ones he was wearing.

"...At least we can say the tree is thorough." He commented dryly, scowling at his useless clothing. How was he supposed to go work in the Scavengers' Yard like this?

Digging around, Renae found some clothes-turned-PJs also, a pink set with moogles on them. "Eh, I'll stick with chocobos." For now, anyway.

"The Tree has some funny ideas, that's for sure--" She sifted around with her foot and snickered, bending down. "Footies with hearts on them and these are too big for me. They must be yours! So classy. You should run around in these; you'll be a big hit with the ladies, especially with that flap in the back!" She giggled helplessly.

Helios scowled and snatched the most offensive pair of pajamas he'd ever seen away from her, wadding them into a ball to attempt to hide the horror. "Like I'd ever willingly wear somethin' like this." He grumbled and shifted through the rubble a little bit more before deciding it was a worthless effort.

"C'mon, let's go see how the other levels are fairing." And throw this atrocity off of the tree... He thought to himself.

Renae tried to agree, but she was giggling too much. She started to hiccup, wiping tears away. "T-that's so you." She almost felt sorry for him but at the same time knew he would have given her merry hell if she had acquired something just as hideous.

"Okay, okay...." Snickerfit.

He really would have, but that didn't mean he had to like getting a taste of his own medicine! He reached over to rudely mess up Renae's hair before heading back out the door. "No it ain't, let's go."

And just as he'd promised, the offensive pajamas took a quick flight off the tree branch. He honestly didn't care what clothes they used to be.
