A WILD SERAPH APPEARS shining_bind May 21 2009, 04:41:27 UTC
It has been a rather amusing occurrence, to be approached by one of the guards. the man had run up to him, blathering on about a resident- a bear no less- forcing its way into the elevators, despite the warning not to. Perhaps it was because Seraph had guarded the elevators for so long- a few days, honestly- that he had been approached. of the guard simply didn't know where to locate (or was afraid to locate) Bastet ( ... )

Unceremoniously Forge pulled the large ant off of his back and tossed it to the ground with a wet crack at the feet of one of the guards. Most of the creature's armored carapace had been shattered in the fight with the bear. Though large and powerful they were, they simply were no match for such a heavy creature as Forge.

"Yes, a note was left where I have made my den temporarily." Peculiar as that was, he hadn't ignored it and was very glad to have taken the chance. His armor was very important, even if it did require some maintenance. He gave the armor a slight shake, which squeaked and groaned in protest to the motion. "I require blubber, or oil to cure it with." Not that he was entirely certain where he might find something like that in the tree. Otherwise he'd just keep clanking and squeaking until he did.

An eyebrow lifted as the ant cracked to the ground, one of the guards shying away. "I see. Mysterious notes are not uncommon here, though they often seem to be more perplexing than useful or tangible at all. I am glad that you were able to locate your armor, whatever shape it happens to be in."

As for blubber or oil... that could be more difficult. He folded his arms, head bowing in thought. "...Companion has written of using various oils at her spa for massage therapies, but I am not entirely sure if they would be applicable. Nonetheless, it proves that there is a supply for some kind of oil. If need be, you could always wait for the Wilderness to become something with the supplies you need, or ask if anyone has knowledge or skills in armory repair and where they receive their supplies."

He let out a short exhale, a sort of amused 'hmph' after a moment. "Do you know how such oil would be manufactured? I assume blubber would be found upon the hides of thick skinned creatures..."

In truth Forge would rather not wait, if a method of reconstituting his armor could be found quickly he would prefer it. While capable of patience, he wasn't necessarily the most patient sort.

"I prefer the use of seal blubber, it is plentiful and I can eat what I do not use." Forge doubted that there was anywhere with seals in the tree though. But if there was oil of some kind it may just have to do, even if it wasn't perfect.

"I will admit to not knowing much of the restructure of armor. I have not made use of it myself here." He really didn't seem to get into much combat in the Sphere aside form his spars with Chosen... though those had been growing steadily entertaining, especially as they began to bring more and more skills into it- such as aerial fights.

As for seals... Seraph paused. "...I do not believe we have any in the sphere that I know of. But with how things change regularly, it is entirely possible that some will appear." He noted, glancing down at the dead ant. After a moment, he spoke again with that nearly-amused tone.

"With the rate this ant is leaking on the floor, as you sure it's oils aren't usable?" He asked, stepping back out of the way of it's steady drip of ant-goo.

No seals, disappointing. Seraph had a point however, and Forge looked down at the oozing ant curiously. He hadn't really thought about it, given how foul the creatures tasted. Sitting back he tested some of the goo experimentally on his paw...

Perhaps it would work. It wasn't as good as seal blubber, but it might just do the trick. Even if it did smell horrible. He unhooked his armor deftly with one claw and proceeded to rub some of the oil into the plates, then tested them out against each other. No more screeching!

"It works... I had not thought of that." Well hey, the ants were good for something! "Hm, perhaps I will gather some more of them before they depart." Have a good source of oil. He'd have to see how long it lasted.

His head tilted again, watching as though fascinated as Forge applied the ant "oil" to his armor to stop the creaking and groaning of it. At least there was a use for the creatures aside from anti-venom. And to think, he had merely suggested it in jest.

"If you go to retrieve more, try not to startle the guards," He noted, glancing to the guards before the elevator. "They are doing their job fairly well, and I'd hate for them to panic at a large bear barreling past. Again." Again, there was the hint of amusement in his voice.

"When you went up, was there any change to them, or are the creatures still swarming the tree the same as they were when you first went?"

"They are far too nervous." Forge commented idly, extremely focused on the task at hand. The way he cared for his armor as though it was a part of himself, all of his attention was on meticulously oiling every part until the plates no longer protested motion. Once he was satisfied with his work he tossed the armor back onto his back and hooked it into place. This time there was no scream of metal when he shook himself, only a surprisingly quiet clanking.

Finished, he looked back up to Seraph. "There were fewer, they attacked with more force this time. They must realize there is no food to be found."
