Summary: Prongs gets a broom as a gift, and whoosh, he’s flying! But not without accidentally hurting himself first. :P
Prongs stared at the wrapped parcel for a long time, sitting still for probably on the verge of a half hour by now. He had no clue where the gift came from; it was like it appeared in the blink of an eye. Taped on the top of the top of the package was a square piece of construction paper with the words “Thank You!” scrawled on it. Why would someone give him a thank you present? Prongs hadn’t done anything special as of late or at least he didn’t think so. Was this really his?
Finally he sighed and grabbed for the seam of the white paper and started to lift it. He’d never know what it was for or what it even was without looking at it. Now that he made the decision, the magician unwrapped the parcel quickly- very curious of what’s inside it. A long, polished piece of wood was soon revealed. It was oddly shaped; the bottom half of the stick curved sharply in on direction while the top was straight with a slightly thick head. Prongs gasped once the very last of the paper was ripped off of it. His gift was actually a broom.
Now, Prongs knew that where he was from he had the ability to fly on one of these things, so he couldn’t help it when his heart beat a bit faster in excitement. He lifted up the broom and twirled it around in his hands a couple times, judging the weight and balance of it. As it gleamed in the light, he noticed that at the head of the broom the words “Nimbus 2000” were engraved in gold. It all felt very familiar, as if this was actually a broom he owned from before he came to Edensphere.
Prongs stood up quickly, anxious to try out his new broom. Swinging his leg around the top, Prongs stood over the broom and grasped it firmly in his two hands. Yes, this was feeling quite familiar already… However something was off. The broom just remained limp and unmoving in his hands. Prongs frowned, but shrugged; maybe it would do something when he got off the ground.
“Alright, here we go!” he exclaimed to himself and looked up. He took a hop forward and, expecting to take off in the air immediately, stumbled a bit when he landed right back to the marshmallow ground.
“What the…” Prongs mumbled to himself while inspecting the broom beneath him. It didn’t do anything, though he knew a broom like this should be able to fly. The teen positioned himself to try again, and once again he landed on his feet about two feet away.
Growling in slight frustration, Prongs stepped off the broom and took a few steps behind him. Maybe he just needed a running start. Bracing himself, Prongs broke out into a sprint and after picking up speed jumped, he put the broom in front of him and hopped right onto it!
…And landed hard on the ground a yard away, the broom colliding painfully with his body. Good thing that the ground was made of marshmallows, otherwise it was most likely he’d be making a visit to the infirmary area. Prongs rolled off his broom in pain, clutching at the areas that throbbed.
“Oh bloody hell…” he hissed as he continued to roll around in the marshmallows. Eventually he came to a stop on his back when the pain receded, and after a moment he sat back up and looked down at the broom. Why wasn’t it working? Was this a defective broom or something?
Finally, Prongs grabbed the broom again firmly and poised over it. “Why won’t you just go up?” he yelled at the object and before he realized what was happening, Prongs was airborne. For a moment he was absolutely speechless, as if the air was knocked out of him. But there he was, hovering a few meters above the marshmallow ground. For a moment he was unsure of what to do, but finally he leaned forward and was shocked to see that the broom actually moved forward as well. The broom was a bit wobbly and unstable, dipping when he didn’t want it to dip or accidentally jerking to the left or right. After a few moments, the broom’s movements evened out and the magician started to gain speed.
Prongs broke out into a smile and let out a loud whoop as he continued to fly. This had to have been the best feeling he’s felt in weeks. And who wouldn’t feel great like this?
He was flying!
(ooc: I was going to have Prongs have a lot of trouble trying to fly, but in canon he took to flying rather easily even though he'd never done it before in his life. So why be different here? After all, it's in his blood. :) If anyone wants to mention how they've seen a flying Prongs, feel free!)
