Bastet started shortly after 2, waiting until the last of them had gotten settled before speaking ( ... )

Spike was troubled as he arrived at the meeting, taking a seat close to Bastet and ordering plain tea. Trust was gone, Scales had gone missing and hadn't communicated with anyone for several days... which, granted, wasn't unusual for him, but he hoped the big lizard would show at the meeting, just to put his mind at ease. His total quiet was unsettling, especially since he often put his opinion in regarding matters of the guards- indeed, was one of the ones who had shown the most initiative.

Spike listened to Bastet with rapt attention, especially after she'd said she was now acting Captain- in effect, his leader. The one whom his instincts told him to now follow, to obey. His tea sat untouched on the table before him.

"Right," he said after she'd mentioned his name, already going through a list of people in his head he thought would be willing to take on the job, filing that aside. He then politely raised his hand when she asked for questions.

She nodded at Spike, noting the faint concern he'd tried to hide during the meeting; but for the time being, she'd respect his privacy and wait for him to bring it up himself. "Go ahead, Spike."

"I don't know if this will be helpful to you in any way, but I'm both a Guard and an Adventurer," he replied. "Is there anything else I can do that would be useful, considering that?"

He then let his eyes slide around the room for what felt like the hundredth time. No Scales. He wasn't showing up to ANYTHING. Sure, being incommunicado was one thing, Spike could even concede that he might've been troubled enough to skip out on yoga without informing Companion, but missing this...?

Patrol felinemystique April 13 2009, 17:22:11 UTC
"All right--next up is something of a shift in our regular duties. I know many of you have expressed interest in patrols. We don't have the manpower to cover the entire Sphere, so for the time being, we'll have to concentrate on the Hatchery and the more populated areas. We'll go in teams, which will be assigned according to our capabilities. I'd like to rotate occasionally, so we'll all have the chance to work with each other at least once.

"I'll expect twice-weekly reports from each of you, done separately from that of your partner." It went without saying that she'd be displeased should she have any reason to suspect the reports were being doctored; this plan necessitated quite a bit of trust in the integrity of one's troops, but she wasn't worried about that with this group. "I may call on one or both of you to clarify any discrepancies between the two."

She stopped again, a short wave of her hand signaling that she was finished, and sat back to await the inevitable responses.
