Where was Tatsu? She was certain he would keep his word and allow her to come, no matter how stubbornly he didn't want her to come. Didn't he understand how she felt? She could never allow a friend to face something like it on his own, much less when he seemed scared by the Other.
She brushed a lock of red hair from her eyes. It would require cutting again soon. It was getting to the base of her neck. Her violet eyes still held that fire. Perhaps it was new confidence, seeing herself take on a fully-fledged knight. Perhaps it was a combination of reckless fury and protectiveness that forced her to ignore the possibility of death for a brief moment.

She glanced at Tatsu, forcing herself to ignore the unease that was building in her. This had to be rough on him... another version of himself, saying such horrible things... she wondered what would happen when they met him in person. I hope he hasn't hurt anyone. Not likely, but she could hope that nobody was injured too badly. Cara did her best to keep the worry from her face--she had to be strong for Tatsu.
The elevator slid open, revealing Honor already there waiting. "We're here," Cara said, stepping out.

He gripped his sword tightly, and exited the elevator with Cara. He nodded to Honor, his face grim. Looking up, he scanned the horizon for Tian. It wasn't hard to find him.
Off in the distance, a great shape loomed, but as soon as he had stepped off the elevator it began to race toward them. Tatsu gulped and tried to calm his mind. "It's time." He growled, low, and walked forward, putting his hands together and meditating. There was a faint glow, and then he was lifted off the ground, a red column of light surrounding him. He let out a cry, and there was a flash of light, before he transformed.

It was at this point that Honor realized she didn't want to die. She had things she needed to do, and not in the whorkaholic way. She swallowed hard, though, and shoved her fear away. Now wasn't the time. If Tatsu thought it was dangerous enough she could be hurt, Honor trusted that opinion.
She also decided she should start carrying a bow as part of her usual arsenal if she was going to be fighting things on a more common basis. She gripped Lightening hard, trying to remember the tactics she'd seen herself using. The fire in herself quivered slightly. Honor wondered if she could even pull it out in a fight in time to make it useful.
"Ready." Her foot slid back, balancing herself.

It was the absence of any physical fear that puzzled Cara the most, until she remembered that monster from her dream. A dragon couldn't be much compared to that. And this... other Tatsu... was hurting people, wanted to destroy humanity. That was just something she couldn't allow. She braced herself in a battle stance, waiting until the dragon was close enough to attack.
She couldn't help but feel for Tatsu, though... what did this have to be like, facing down another you?

'Well met, my Other. A pity you cannot be around much longer. You refuse to accept my view. Therefore, you must die alongside them.'
'Why are you doing this?!' Tatsu cried in the other's head. 'You and I... we can live peacefully with these people. They don't have to be destroyed!'
'As I thought. You have been polluted. I wonder, will your friends mourn your passing?' Tian launched himself at Tatsu, and Tatsu responded in kind. They met in the air with a flash of fire and swiping limbs, both of them screeching ( ... )

There was a sickening crash as her friend slammed into the ground, the other dragon no more than a bad memory. She looked at his form. Tears came to her eyes. Her mind was on repeat: don't die, don't die, don't die. She tossed Lightening to the side; her shield came off rapidly as well, red marks from the leather forming from the hasty removal.
Her hands gently touched his chest. Her heart pounded. Don't die. Don't die. The purple fire was easier to call. She dug deep, the air around her glowing violet. Her voice cracked as she began a habitual prayer, "Great Mother, give me strength." Her hands glowed briefly while she began to ( ... )

"Tatsu!" Cara dropped her spear and dove into her pockets looking for... something, anything, to help, but of course they were empty. No healing items, couldn't use magic... panic rose in her. He was going to die!
But it vanished when Honor knelt next to him with the strange purple glow of her magic. Cara hurried to Tatsu's other side, watching anxiously and wishing she could do more to help. "C'mon Tatsu, wake up, you'll be fine... you're not going to die..." He's not going to die, he's not going to die, she repeated to herself, staring. He'd be fine... right?

"Let's get him to my house - the Medical Island is overworked as it is." She grabbed her sword and shoved it into its sheath, ignoring the less meaningful shield.
She was all business now. He was injured, still, perhaps, and it would relieve the medics there of one patient if she simply cared for him herself. "He's just out, alright?" It was both a reassurance to Cara and to herself. She gently pressed an arm under his back, pulling him up.

"Here, let me get him," Cara said, moving to get Tatsu's arm over her shoulder. Despite her slight frame, his weight wouldn't be a great burden on her. Besides, she was still fresh as a daisy, unlike the two of them.

She breathed in, standing. "Let's... get him... to a bed."

Well, if Tatsu was going to be here there was no point in Cara going back yet. She'd have to ask if it was all right to bring Lucky over, since it looked like Tatsu was going to be here for a bit.

"Thank you for helping." At least he was going to be okay. That was the most important thing. She wasn't sure how well she could handle someone else dying, especially this time right in front of her eyes.
