By whatever miracle or chance, Fugue managed to escape The Wilderness (and the group of people who ganged up on him), rushing for 'safety' on the second floor--The City Without Walls. Because his journal was starting to get really full, he went to the Paper Factory to request a new one when he saw--

--uh, what DID he see?

Because it didn't look human by any stretch of the imagination, and Fugue wasn't used to anything other than humans in Edensphere. It wasn't as if that creature was the only non-human that arrived--there had been others in times past. But recently, there haven't been as many, and Fugue seemed to all but forget it was possible.

At least it wasn't a bunch of tentacles in a laser tag quit trying to shoot him?

Nevertheless, the 'elder' -who most certainly did NOT look like an elder at the moment- decided to pass the creature, but curiosity struck him as he was doing so.

"You must be new around here--when did you arrive?"

Because Fugue wanted to know when he missed the creature's arrival, and he pondered who was there to greet him.
