Summary: Ran's death has reminded Bastet of something she heard before...but it's not safe to talk about it in the Tree.
Bastet left the house for the elevator a few moments after her conversation with Raise. She was glad the opportunity to see him had come up over the journal--she'd wanted to talk to him last night, but Sniper had been in such a rage over Ran's death there'd been no chance. Praise had mentioned something like this happening the first time they met, and she'd filed it away in the event she'd need to refer to it again.
She cursed Scales' outburst to herself, as she'd been doing ever since the huge words appeared in the journal. He'd hurt who knows how many people with that one thoughtless act.
But dwelling on it would do no good. Raise wasn't yet in front of the elevator as she approached, but no matter. She was sure he wouldn't be long.
