My heart has joined the Thousand, for my friend stopped running today. )
Something like a heat shimmer--of which there were many, saying as the steam rising from the hot springs produced lots of those--slightly more rippling than the others appeared at the far side of the springs, and from the quasi-mirage, two large figures appeared. One was quite fluffy and looked quite approachable; the other was... well. Blood-stained and a little dementedAh. The Velveteen Rabbit and the Doubt bunny. Interesting combination, and if she had any less self-control, she would have been laughing maniacally at the pair ( ... )

Climbing down from his perch, Kanin moved around the various pools, trying to get closer without making too much noise. It would suck if he'd come all the way out here just to startle the rabbits away. Once he got close enough to see he stopped, standing half behind another group of rocks.
There was one rabbit that looked like something out of a standard children's book: brown with light spots, a somewhat typical rabbit. The other looked slightly maniacal and Kanin blinked, not really disturbed by its appearance. Blood happened, he guessed, and didn't evaluate his reaction too closely.
He just hoped the bloodstained one didn't suddenly decide to eat the other. That might be a bit much.

She was kind of impressed by how the guy she'd conversed with on the journals had actually shown up and how carefully he observed her rabbits. Thinking of that made her lose her focus for a split second, and for that split second, the Velveteen Rabbit slumped over slightly, almost as though it were ready to just sink beneath the water's surface and drown. She re-focused her attention just as quickly, however, and prevented it from being, well. Too obvious ( ... )

Kanin held his breath as the brown rabbit looked around. Oh boy. He didn't want to get caught, fairly certain that anything that talked would not be happy being spied upon. Besides, they were a lot bigger than he was and there was no certainty that the brunet would be able to outrun them if they decided to chase him across the island.
But they didn't see him and that was good, right? Letting himself relax just in the slightest, Kanin smiled but stayed right where he was. Wednesday was turning out to be pretty awesome.

The other two focused their attention over to where their third companion had finally shown himself, and the Doubt Bunny raised a paw in greetings. "Yo! Oh hey! Sneakin' a peak? Daring lil' guy, ain't he?"
And the Velveteen Rabbit only blushed.

Wait, had he just been invited to join them? Kanin's blue eyes went wide while his brain tried to wrap itself around that.
"Uhm...cans I? I wasn't...I just...hmm. I didn't means to be rude."

"We don't mind. Besides, using these facilities are free of charge," offered the jackalope.
They seemed to be moving just fine, Cancer? decided. It was about time too. It was difficult to convince oneself that things existed when all logic and world knowledge pointed against such unfounded beliefs.

He got out of his clothes fairly quickly. Kanin wasn't really all that shy about being naked around other people, at least not where bodies of water were concerned, but he was still a little in awe about their being giant rabbits in the first place.
Getting into the hot spring, Kanin completely submerged before popping his head back up and realizing he'd never introduced himself. "My name is Kanin."
