Kiba left temporary housing at an easy walk, his hands stuck in his pockets. He'd woken up in some stupid white clothes that someone told him were the regular clothes for newborns. They were better than those fucking Sparta clothes, but the pants were too short, hitting his legs in the middle of his shin.

A quick trip to the clothing stall fixed that, and while Bastet teased him once again, she was pretty helpful, so he couldn't get too upset.

It was getting dark, but he could still make out a slight figure by the elevator as he approached. "Hey," he called out, "hope I didn't--"

As his mind finally realized what he was seeing, he stopped, feeling like he'd been punched in the gut. All he could do was stand there, staring like some idiot.

It was her.

Kazahana looked up and smiled at the sound of the baritone voice. Tall, red hair, tattoos on-were those on his face, or did he just have extremely odd eyebrows? No, eyebrows never grew that way.

"Kiba?" she asked, strolling over to him. "It's me, Kazahana."

It took him a moment to respond, then he reached up and scratched his head, trying to stop staring. "Yeah...yeah, it's me. Hope I'm not too late."

Shit, she'd been in his dream. But she didn't seem to know him at all. He ignored the strange hurt that went through him at the thought, and managed a wry grin down--way down--at her. It wasn't actually that hard--he was pretty glad to see her either way.

"Nice to meet you in person."

Kazahana's smile slipped a little when she met Kiba's eyes and he spoke. A strange feeling ran through her, shivery almost, but not the shivers of fear or attraction. It was more like...deja vu?

But that couldn't be possible. She didn't remember meeting someone like Kiba before, not even in the memories she'd recovered.

She turned her smile back up. "Likewise," she said. "Ready to see what's down there? Kanin was very excited to tell me about it."

Kiba, fascinated by the little orange men, only heard the faintest scrabble of her hands and feet against the rocks just before turning around to see her fall into the river. "Fuck!" he shouted, scrambling over the rocks. He couldn't see her at all, so without another thought, he jumped in after her.

He found her pretty quickly, as one of her flailing arms hit him in the side. He wrapped an arm around her waist and hauled her to the surface, trying to control the strange panic that had risen in him when he'd seen her falling over the rocks. "Hey," he said, "you all right, goddammit?"

Shock had frozen Kazahana for a moment, but she quickly began kicking her arms and legs to try and make it to the surface. It wasn't like swimming in water, though. She couldn't seem to make it far...

Her forearm hit someone and then strong arms wrapped around her, hauling her upwards and over. She wrenched away from Kiba, spitting chocolate out and shoving hair out of her face. No good. It just dripped and oozed back over her eyes. "All right!" she repeated. "No, I'm not all right! I'm covered in chocolate!"

"I mean are you hurt, dammit? I can see you're covered in fucking chocolate." He shoved her towards the shore, clambering out behind her. It had only come up to his chest, so at least he didn't have it all in his face the way she did.

He frowned down at himself--he didn't have a whole lot of clothes yet, so he hoped this didn't ruin them. He looked over at Kazahana and moved back from her a half-step. She was pissed.

"No, I'm not hurt! It was chocolate, not broken glass!" she spat-literally, as she coughed some more of the stuff up. "Ugh. This is ridiculous. I need something to wipe all of this off."

Kiba did too, but she was too angry to think about him for another few moments. Partially at herself; she'd fallen on her own, after all.
