Helix had felt disembodied and distant the entire day, just waiting for a sign from Lotus. As time dragged on, his concentration waned to less and less, and he could not concentrate for more than a few seconds; writing in the journals was becoming more difficult, holding up a conversation near impossible. Someone received flowers mysteriously, and he thought of Lotus. Someone mentioned best friends, and his mind was off again. Everywhere he turned, he thought of the boy he called his soulmate. Lotus was present in everything...and yet he was not here. Where was he? Why had he not left a note? Throne had been pleasant enough company, but Helix couldn’t go through another minute wondering about Lotus. He had to know. For better or...worse.
This place had become a series of questions, most of which were about knowledge and whether one really wanted to attain said knowledge. At the center of the questions had been memories and his life before, things which had once seemed all important. But Helix had all but given up on chasing those, once, content to be with Lotus for as long as it took to get them both home…together, with memories recovered. Together had been what mattered. But right now, there was one question that weighed more heavily than memories or home, one he could not escape the answer to one way or another. It was Lotus: where he was and when he was coming back. Was together still an option? Or was Helix now alone in his cage? And though he thought he already knew, there was at least one person who could probably confirm it.
Drake, along with Throne and Want, had been charitable enough to take Helix in while he sorted out himself and coped with Lotus’ disappearance. Edensphere was either full of ironies, or had a nice way of showing you what you wanted, taking it from you, and tempting you with the answers. And right now, Lotus was gone, and Drake likely had the answers.
Helix’s hands were shaking slightly when he approached Drake. The other had a way of seeing through facades, and Helix had already proven weak in front of him before at their first meeting. This was not really a time Helix trusted his own inner strength. Knowing what he may have lost was worse than missing the hundreds of thousands of experiences he could not remember. If Lotus was injured, or waiting to be reborn, or…gone. Helix had never been as optimistic as his boyfriend. Worry plagued him, but he wasted no time. The sooner he knew... Helix wasn't sure what he'd do with the information, but he needed to know.
“Drake...” Helix watched his host for any signs that might help Helix anticipate the words to come. “...Did you find out anything about Lotus?” Was he coming back?
