Scholarship

It's official! I got my letter in the mail yesterday! I only have to pass a criminal background check and sign my contract saying that I will work for the state for a minimum of 2 years post graduation, and I'm in. No worries there! It pays for full tuition and fees :) I'll be getting 2,000 each semester (1000 if I take summer classes) to go towards books and other living expenses. The stipend does have to cover travel expenses for two conferences in March and August including travel, lodging, and food. But, that's not much and I can deal with that! Carpooling! So, other than housing, I'm completely covered! Part of my housing I'll plan on paying through the 2,000, but about 2000 will still have to be used of a loan for that.

I have an orientation at IUPUI in Indy on Friday January 13 from 10-3 so the only problem there is that's the weekend I was going to Mandy's and Aaron is going to have to find a way to meet me in Indy since he has Friday classes. Hopefully, Joy will be going to Purdue that weekend and she can drop him off (I think she has Friday classes) or he'll have to see if a friend can drive him down and he can pay him off. I just hate driving all that way alone. So, we'll figure something out!

I found out the reason for my parents attitude. They feel my loans are family business and I shouldn't have brought it up in front of extended family. Ok...sorry. They still don't act that excited, but whatever. I'm personally thrilled so that's all that matters. I have a GUARANTEED job when I graduate :) And my schooling is paid for! WOOHOO! Thankfully, Lori and Aaron were excited for me. Lori was sweet and gave me a hug of encouragement cuz she could tell I was down about my parents' attitudes. I love hearing Aaron's excitement because it makes me feel like I've made him proud. So...there's my way of ringing in the new year!
