Eden's Birthday Weekend

Sep 27, 2005 13:48

So as you already saw in the previous post that I spent the weekend with Eden for her birthday. It POURED on the way to Lanark. It sucked! I hate driving in rain. Aaron drove for part of the way too so that I could have a break (and eat my dinner). It was late when Aaron and I got there Friday because it was a slow process getting out of Muncie. But we managed! Got there around 11 pm. Jeff had already given her the presents he'd bought for her and so she was still up playing (he didn't get there til a little after 10). She was shy around Aaron at first but then she got over it especially when Saturday came.

Saturday, got up and started icing cupcakes and decorating for the party. It was tons of fun and I even got to help Eden open a lot of her presents which was fun! Especially since it gave us tons of pictures together throughout the day! One of the kids bought the present that I had gotten her and looked for FOREVER - Dora's Talking Backpack. I was mad. And I'll be the first to admit, acted like a big baby about it! I told Mandy to grab the one I'd got her out of the gift pile and just put it in my room so that she didn't have to open two. Mandy placed it on the bed and about 30 minutes later Kara came out and told me it was gone. The wrapping paper was all over the bed! I looked around the basement and suddenly found the kid that had given her the gift walking up the steps with the one I had gotten her. He informed me he was taking it home with him. I told him she had two and we were taking that one back. He said no, it's mine. What kind of kid (a FIVE YEAR OLD!) has the nerve to go in someone else's room (not even at their house) and open a WRAPPED present and then try to take it home. I could've hit him! Party was over...cleaned up and hung out playing with Eden's new toys. Aaron got tons of video tape including the family talking about John and Jeff's side of the family on tape. Better never show that one to their side of the family ;) Eden kept telling Kara and I to get into her new tent and play in there. It was too cute! It was nice just chilling, playing, and chatting.

Sunday, we went to church and then came home with Eden to nap. Poor little girl wasn't feeling well and just wanted to be left alone...so that's just what Jeff did. Let her watch tv and just walk around as she pleased. No reason getting her all worked up. We napped the afternoon away and then the boys went out to a movie and dinner while the girls stayed in town and went to Brother's for dinner. Chilled at home with each other and watched movies :) It was nice getting to spend just some time with Mandy and chat.

Monday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY EDEN MARIE! Got up, Eden woke up and so we played together for a while. Then, I showered and packed. Mom's gift got there. She loved coloring with the big crayons! Good job Mom! She walked out the door with me every time I took stuff to the car. It was cute! She gave me a huge hug and waved goodbye to me (even broke away from the coloring ;)). On the way back, we stopped at Karen's which was a great part of the day and I loved being able to see her after Eden's birthday. The kids were too cute! Aaron and I had picked up a few things for them. Noah fell in love with the princess slippers that I'd bought Savannah. Hehe...sorry Karen! Dinner was delicious and it was nice getting to chat. Aaron really liked Thom and getting to chat with him about techy/artise stuff and he loved their family. He's more excited about the Reunion in March now since he knows them...especially since Thom is a GUY he can talk to. I got a bit emotional on the way back and the tight traffic in Chicago was the breaking point and I started balling. Aaron was really sweet and took over driving and held my hand letting me talk. We even talked about me being a surrogate mother to Mandy's family again. That's not something that he is able to do with his firstborn and I completely understand and respect that! He is going to make an amazing dad someday.

Overall it was a great way to spend Eden's birthday weekend! Tons of sex talks with Jeff...getting it on in the pastor's house....no thanks I think I'll pass...especially since Aaron and I aren't having sex til we're married. He's too funny but our views on sex definitely differ. I can't imagine sex without attachment. And I look forward to the day where Aaron and I get married and that becomes a part of our relationship. Eden is definitely growing up and changing every time I see her. Happy Birthday little girl! I love you!

aaron, eden
