Week of Waiting

Apr 04, 2005 15:48

So after an awesome weekend at Eden's, it was a long week of waiting til Aaron got here. Except....even though I thought it was going to be a down week, it wasn't AT ALL!!! I worked 13 hours last week, had a video project I had to do for my interview class, went to the crisis pregnancy center, amidst all the other normal craziness. The past two weeks, I've had 2 hours out of my entire day to have for me (even though even then I should be working on homework). It's been nuts and the next 5 weeks are only going to be even crazier! I had better hope I have something to look forward to doing each weekend or I'm going to go out of my mind!! This weekend LoriLori is hopefully coming Friday and then going down to Indy with me to go to Joy Noel's 21st at her bros!!! Man have I got the perfect card for Joy! Hehe. Then the next weekend crossing my fingers that Aaron's coming up to go to the formal we're having. Remember Aaron...you were told you could be here 2 night and you weren't and we had to spend Sat. at the hospital. All good reasons on why you need to come :) And my mom loves the idea! How much better can it get! Plus, I'm coming to your formal so you should come to mine. Hehe.

So, Friday night finally arrived and Aaron got here! We went to the video store but they were all out of Closer :( So we went to Family Video and we got it there! Aaron asked the video lady and they had a copy turned in that wasn't on the shelf. So my loving amazing boyfriend got the video. Too bad we both didn't like the movie. That was the first Julia Roberts movie that I didn't like. It was stupid. It's k...being able to spend that time together was great!

The next morning, we went to lunch with Michelle....good lunch viewing pleasure huh Michelle ;) On the way back I started getting in severe pain in my abdomen...we came back upstairs and I could hardly make it up. I laid down on the futon and Aaron snuggled up with me trying to get me to go to the hospital. Eventually, he convinced me (ok, he was practically going to drag me there) and off we went. Of course, about the time we walked in the door, the pain started to lessen. I mean, on the way there I couldn't even shut the car door beacuse the pain was so bad in my back by that point! Well, they admitted me and started doing urine tests and blood tests. They said they were suspecting a gullbladder attack. After I gave the urine and blood samples, we were laying there waiting and all of a sudden a man somewhere in the ER started screaming "AHHHHHHH!!!" like he was being murdered. I was flippin out. A few minutes later he did it again! I told Aaron maybe it was like the health center where people went to die. I mean...you'd flip out too if you were having all these tests done and there's someone screaming. Then, my nurse came in to hook me up to an IV (which I absolutely can't stand them because I can always feel the drip of the fluids through me and it drives me nuts) and he screamed a 3rd time!!! She said that he was out of it mentally and didn't know where he was and what was going on. Poor guy :( I hope he figured it out! After I had the stupid IV stuck in me, they took me to ultrasound and Aaron got to see more of me than he probably ever expected to. Almost all my organs were photographed. For a while I thought there was something wrong with my liver the way she took so many picture. But in fact, she said my kidney looked irregular. Well, then I was sent over to X-ray where I was told to stand still which was almost impossible considering that the room was about 40 degrees and since I was shivering that made it a bit hard. Came back and waited more (watched the news with the death of the pope...he took over the television there wasn't anything else to watch) and they took me for a CAT scan. At first it was fine and I actually almost started laughing because you are being put through the machine and there is a voice in the machine that says "Breathe "Hold it." The first time it did this I almost busted out laughing. But I made it through. Pics were taken that way and then I had iodine put in me. Boy! The warnings the nurse told me about the medicine, she wasn't kidding! It definitely made me smell and taste funny and yes, I did feel like I was wetting myself! After that, I was taken back to the room and waited for the results.

Come to find out, I had a huge gas pocket by my kidney that was created because of the new disease they found out I have : Medullary Sponge Kidney. So, come to find out less than 0.05% of the population has this; it's usually in men; and women that have it are more prone to death. I've done a lot more reading now and as long as my kidneys don't start giving me tons of problems, I won't have lots to worry about. It means though that the tubes narrowing to go to my urethra are irregular and they are collecting pools of urine which causes infection and kidney stones. And in my case, this past weekend, it created the huge gas bubble because of the discomfort.

So needless to say, our weekend did not go as planned! But, Aaron definitely helped me out by taking care of me and making sure I was ok. Most of all, he kept me in good spirits and laughing about it which was nice. Honey, thanks for being here for me. You have went through so much with me and yet, you always stick around. When we were at the hospital I looked over at you knowing that I was with the man I was spending the rest of my life with. I've never felt so relaxed at a hospital and I know it was because you were there. Thanks for being my strength. I know you said I was a trooper going through all that, but you really did help keep me together by just being there. Thanks for everything you've done for me! Including the wonderful chocolate and cookies you gave me!!! You are so thoughtful in so many ways and I appreciate it more than words can express! I love you and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you!!!

Sunday I slept til 10:30 and got up and lounged around the room all day trying not to concentrate on how hungry I was since the doc had put me on a 24 hour liquid diet! Went to work from 7-12 and worked on homework at the same time which was good cuz I have a lot to get done this week! Then, came back and chatted with Michelle til 2 am in the morning. I love you girl!!! I hope the week gets easier. If you need to chat you know where to find me! I love you!
