Eden of the East at Anime Expo

Hey guys! Not sure if you were aware, but Anime Expo was last week and the creators of Eden of the East were there as guests!

From left to right: art supervisor Satoru Nakamura, hurf myself, director Kenji Kamiyama, and producer Tomohiko Ishii.
They held a special focus panel on Eden of the East which Anime News Network summed up nicely here. There was also one statement from director Kamiyama that made me smile which I quote very loosely:

"In Eden of the East, Japan is bombarded with missiles. When the series was airing, Japan was facing a real life threat of a missile crisis from the country of North Korea. Also, in the first episode, the main character is found naked in Washington, D.C., and around the same time it aired a popular idol in Japan got very drunk and was found naked in a park. And then in the series, the Japanese Prime Minister resigned which happened also in reality. So I hope when Eden of the East is shown here in America that America won't be hit by missiles either."
The creators also held two signing sessions during the convention, and the series was screened to a packed theater. FUNimation was also running their promotions on full blast with their Selecao Scavenger Hunt in which convention attendees had to search for "Selecao" wearing shirts with the Noblesse Oblige logo and ask them for their cards to turn in for prizes at the FUNimation booth. The sweet prizes included a Juiz window cling, a two-sided poster on really nice paper, and a super awesome t-shirt! I wish I could've taken photos of them to share but I left them at home and I'm on the other side of the globe right now. If you're still curious about this little game they had at Anime Expo you can check FUNiCon 4.0 and they explain the game around 53:00 and show all the prizes too. (The Eden of the East trailer is at 47:30 btw!)

Also relevant, the second movie Paradise Lost is coming out on Blu-Ray/DVD soon! It's releasing August 4th in Japan. Source: Amazon.jp Linked is the premium edition which includes the movie, a cute carton, a bonus DVD, and a drama CD on mysterious Selecao No. 7 among other goodies~. Oh I'm super excited and can't wait to pick it up and watch it!

And that's all the updating I have so I'll just end with this picture of my cosplay~.
