Porchfest!

In the event, I did not work on the watercolor. (Nor am I going to tonight. I'm tired and intend to pack in early since I am driving to NJ tomorrow.)

Instead, I went to Porchfest. The fest has gotten bigger each year so far, so they keep playing around with the format. This year there were six performance time slots: 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm. Each porch owner could volunteer their space for as many or as few slots as they liked. This helps keep people moving around (and thus potentially stumbling over acts they weren't intending to see but enjoy anyway) and also, I think, helps ensure that performers aren't too close to each other, which has sometimes been a problem in the past.

I took Dottie out for a walk at 12:30pm, stopped and listened to four groups en route, and returned home shortly before 2pm. I had lunch while the first group started performing on my front porch, then took Dottie outside at 2:30pm to listen. We stayed through the end of that group and the entirety of the second group -- so until 4pm -- at which point there was a logistically complicated switch and I took the chance to sneak inside for a drink and other sundry tasks, after which I returned to the front sidewalk and listened to the third group perform.

Dottie got nothing out of the music, but she did cadge a lot of snacks from people who thought she was adorable. (To be fair, she is adorable.) She also was not thrilled about the influx of strangers in what she is coming to consider "her" territory, but she only barked during the applause after songs, so that ended up all right. *wry*
