"Ashes" is my 2010 NaNoWriMo novel. I got to 17,700 words, which is a pretty good month's work for me, though not anywhere near enough to win. *sigh* I have decided to continue writing and posting the rough draft, in an attempt to avoid the fate that befell "The Sum of Things" (my 2004 NaNo) which got bogged down by endless revisions and hasn't progressed for years.
Anyway. Summary:
Two hundred years after miasma spilled through the Gate to taint the earth and air, a magician, a binder, and a swordswoman set off through the Great Waste on a quest to set things right. But the magician has hidden motives, her companions have secrets of their own, and there is no guarantee that their effort may not simply hasten the death of their world.
