4 unrelated things: weather, work, Merlin, and church

1. It is TOO DAMN COLD. That is all.

2. Also, BW is apparently ill. MS and I agreed that he could/should leave work early (me because I don't want him getting so ill I have to cover his shifts, MS because she prefers not to work with him, and both of us because it was a slow day), so he punched out at 2:30pm. I hope he's better tomorrow, or I may be closing.

3. So, this Merlin show. It is very cheesy and kind of "historical accuracy, what historical accuracy?" and trips my sympathetic embarrassment squick and my, "Oh no, you idiot, don't do that, take ONE MINUTE and think of the consequences because this CANNOT END WELL" squick, and yet. SOCUTE!!! And with actual interesting female characters, and playing exactly the kind of silly structural mixup games I like to play with legends (which is why I do not MIND the complete lack of even lip service toward historical accuracy), and hints of interesting moral ambiguity/relativity, and stuff like that.

Also, I am once again reminded that I have an embarrassing kink for magical power (shut up, I have so little sexuality it's not surprising it's a little weird when it pops up... um, double entendre not intended...) and also for sharp pointy weapons (swords are fucking gorgeous, even if the ones on the show seem a little blunted, probably for safety reasons).

And Arthur is trying so hard to be a good person even when he's a jerk, and Merlin is adorable and naive and yet has an interesting streak of moral expediency, and Gwen is adorkable and I want to be her friend and have long conversations about nothing in particular, and Morgana is AWESOME, and I know there is something up with Uther and Gaius and backstory and stuff, and... yeah.

In summary, YAY! *scuttles off to watch episode 4*

4. Am involved in lesson planning and stuff for the winter/spring semester of RE. Apparently I now have FOUR co-teachers, all of whom seem more reliable than Frank from last semester (though not more reliable than Joanna, who is very cool). It's rather disconcerting, but I think I like it. :-)
